18.01.2022 Winter Series Returns! The 2019/20 summer season for Late Models is drawing to a close, with just two Pro Dirt Series shows remaining, but the LMRWA are already... looking forward and tonight are pleased to announce the return of the Winter Series! The 2020 ‘Renegade’ Late Model Winter Series is set to kick off at Ellenbrook Speedway on the 24th of May and we are thrilled to once again have Renegade back on board for what is now the 9th year of the Winter Series. This series was created to give newer drivers the chance to gain experience away from the high pressure environment of the Pro Dirt Series and over the years it has given many drivers their start in the exciting division of Late Models. Drivers such as Kenny Macpherson did their first laps in the Winter Series and Kmac is now a regular on the Pro Dirt Series and has seen podium success, while many others have also cut their teeth in this series, or even some of the more experienced drivers have chosen to cut some laps during the winter time to keep their skills sharp. The 2020 Renegade Winter Series will see six events held across two tracks, as detailed below, and a big thanks to Kellerberrin Speedway & Ellenbrook Speedway ‘home of dirt track champions’ for their support of the series. We’d also like to thank Michael Holmes from Michael Holmes Racing (MHR), suppliers of performance parts, Dirt Track Nutters (DTN) and Rob Wells from CTM Recruitment, the best staffing solutions for Civil, Trade & Mining in Western Australia, who have all come on board to support the series once again. For enquires on how to become involved in Late Model Racing contact Warren Oldfield on 0433 177 651. Release by DTN Media. 2020 Renegade Late Model Winter Series Dates Round 1 Sunday, 24th May, 2020 Ellenbrook Speedway Round 2 Saturday, 13th June, 2020 Kellerberrin Speedway Round 3 Sunday, 28th June, 2020 Ellenbrook Speedway Round 4 Sunday, 19th July, 2020 Ellenbrook Speedway Round 5 Saturday, 22nd August, 2020 Kellerberrin Speedway Round 6 Sunday, 6th September, 2020 Ellenbrook Speedway

11.01.2022 Only Three Remain! The 2019/20 season has been a massive one so far, but with three nights of racing still left on the calendar it is still far from over and wi...th the points battle so tight, it is anyone’s game! Kye Blight has won the last seven feature races in a row here in Western Australia, but with his season now over and his car sold, not to mention Joe Godsey now back home in America (the only other person to win a feature race since last November) the field is wide open for one of the other five feature winners so far this season to claim another, or for a new winner to make their presence felt. Brent Vosbergen, Brad Blake, Warren Oldfield, Marc Giancola and Paul Stubber have each claimed one feature win so far this season (except for Vosbergen who has claimed two) and they would all love to claim another this weekend. Vosbergen’s WA Title defense started out strongly but ended in disaster at the last show, so the team has been working hard to repair the car in readiness for Saturday nights showdown where he would love to grab his third win of the season. Warren Oldfield would also like another win to go with his one victory and six other podium finishes this season which sees him leading both the Carbusters Pro Dirt Series and the Perth Motorplex Track Championship. He has Michael Holmes pursuing him in both of those point scores, but Holmes is yet to score a main event win this year despite four podium finishes. Both drivers will be tough to beat this weekend. Brad Blake has been resting up after a hard hit at the State Title and he will hopefully be right back on the pace while Marc Giancola and Paul Stubber will each be keen to get back into the form that saw them both claim a feature race win earlier in the season. Veronica McCann and Freddy Kinsella have been fighting it out all season in the point scores, McCann fifth and Kinsella sixth in the Motorplex points, while Kinsella is fourth and McCann fifth in the Carbusters Pro Dirt Series points. Kinsella has grabbed his first podium finish this season while McCann has been oh so close in fourth, so both will want a good run this weekend. New South Welshman Bruce Mackenzie is back in the field this weekend and will hope to build on his seventh at the last show, while others like Jay Cardy and Ryan Halliday have also been on the podium this season but would love to get that elusive win. Adding some extra excitement to this weekend’s event is some drivers we have not yet seen compete this season. Clint Noakes has purchased a new car and after being out of Late Models for a number of seasons is expected to return this Saturday night and shouldn’t take too long to be back on the pace. Kalgoorlie drivers Jeff Pahl and Shaun Cubbage have also nominated to make their first trips down to the big smoke as part of the Pro Dirt Series while former Kalgoorlie local Laura Byrnes is also set to make her debut aboard the ex-Ken Macpherson machine. All three will be looking to just get laps under their belts, with Byrnes in particular excited just to hit the track in her first competitive hit out since moving up from other Sedan divisions. All the regulars are back including David Nylander, who has repaired his immaculate #54 machine after a big crash at the last show, Jai Mazzini and Daniel Ameduri who were fifth and sixth in the State Title respectively, impressive rookie Matt Amato and of course Cody Avins who will be hoping to put his rough run behind him and score some good results. It is sure to be another huge night of action this Saturday night in what will be Round Fourteen of the Carbusters Metal Recycling Late Model Pro Dirt Series!! 04.01.2022 The Season That Was On paper, season 2019/20 was supposed to be one of the biggest on record for Late Models in Western Australia and although things didn’t ex...actly turn out as planned, we still had a massive year of competition that saw great competitor numbers and some awesome on track action. Our season started way back in October last year, with Ellenbrook Speedway playing host to the opening round of the Carbusters WA Late Model Pro Dirt Series, doubling as the annual Ray Tulk Memorial. Twenty cars were on hand for the opener, with eighteen able to start the feature until an opening lap incident eliminated five drivers. Michael Holmes, who became the first Pancho’s Pole Position driver of the season, raced away to the initial lead ahead of Warren Oldfield and Ken Macpherson. Oldfield would stalk Holmes for a number of laps and eventually make his way through, Macpherson also making the move. The yellow lights would come on just once during the race, with Brent Vosbergen taking the opportunity to come from fifth into second place as the race went green once again. He would then chase down Oldfield, just 0.097 seconds separating the two with two laps to go, then Vosbergen just getting the nod as the flag flew ahead of Oldfield and Macpherson. Round Two was the first at the Perth Motorplex for the new season, with Brad Blake coming from position seven to claim his thirty sixth win at the venue, putting him second on the all time winners list. He defeated Ryan Halliday (who earlier in the night reset the one lap qualifying and eight lap track records) and Marc Giancola. Just a week later, drivers were back at the Motorplex for Round Three, with Brad Blake claiming pole for the feature and starting alongside Warren Oldfield. Oldfield got the jump and was never headed, with Michael Holmes pouncing on Blake to take second place before the flag flew. Seventeen drivers made the trip down to Bunbury Speedway for Round Four the week later, with Marc Giancola blowing the field away to win by nearly seven seconds ahead of Holmes, while Freddy Kinsella claimed his first ever podium finish in a Late Model coming home third. Back at the Motorplex a week later for Round Five of the Carbusters Pro Dirt Series and it was Brent Vosbergen who became the first driver to score multiple feature wins this season. He had to fight for it, going three wide on multiple occasions with Ryan Halliday and Warren Oldfield before Halliday was forced infield, elevating a hard fighting Jay Cardy into third. Michael Holmes then also made his way onto the scene, pressuring Cardy. Unfortunately, with the lateness of the hour and a number of stoppages, the race was declared at lap twenty three, with Vosbergen officially defeating Oldfield and Holmes. For the fifth weekend in a row, drivers would again hit the race track, this time for Round Six of the Carbusters Pro Dirt Series at the Motorplex, and it was Paul Stubber who stamped his authority on the evening, winning both of his heat races and then dominating the thirty lap feature as he defeated Michael Holmes and Jay Cardy. After a fortnight’s rest, twenty seven Late Models hit the track for the John Day tribute race, doubling as Round Seven of the Series. Kye Blight, returning to the track for the first time in a number of shows, was the man who joined last start winner Paul Stubber on the front row, but Stubber grabbed the initial lead while Blight found himself battling hard with Craig Vosbergen. Stubber pulled away but a restart would bunch the field up once again, with Blight pressuring Stubber and then taking the lead. Blight would hold on to defeat Stubber and Craig Vosbergen. Next up was the annual Boxing Day Bonanza Show, where Kye Blight went back to back, besting a solid thirty car field to claim the win, crossing the line ahead of Jay Cardy and American visitor Joe Godsey. The first event of the New Year would be the big one; the Australian Late Model Championship, held over two nights at the Perth Motorplex. Although affected by bushfires that raged across the country, the event was still able to go ahead and with much success. The preliminary night saw Blight and Godsey each win a preliminary feature race, with Blight then returning on the Saturday night to record a dominant win and his first Australian Championship. Craig Vosbergen would finish as Australia #2 while Warren Oldfield would claim Australia #3. Teams would then head down to Albany a week later for a two night show, with Kye Blight again continuing his dominance, winning the first night over Brent Vosbergen and Warren Oldfield, then the second over Brent Vosbergen and Joe Godsey. This would also give Blight the USA vs WA Invasion Tour win with a near perfect score across the four nights of competition. In what would be his final show for the season, Kye Blight claimed his seventh win on the trot in Round Thirteen, which was also the WA Title event. Blight didn’t have the greatest run in his heats, seeing him come from position nine in the feature event, but it didn’t take him long to get back to his brilliant best, grabbing the lead after a restart eliminated some of the other contenders, then surviving a green, white, chequer restart to claim his first WA Title ahead of Warren Oldfield and Ryan Halliday. Late February would see Late Models back at the Perth Motorplex for Round Fourteen of the Carbusters Pro Dirt Series, with Brent Vosbergen claiming his third win for the season after he earlier won both of his heats to start on pole position. He was followed across the line by Warren Oldfield and Brad Blake. In what was scheduled to be the penultimate event of the season at the Motorplex on the 14th of March, just two heat races were held, with David Nylander and Michael Holmes each claiming a win. Unfortunately Mother Nature had other ideas for the event and the heavens opened seeing the remainder of the event cancelled. This would also be the final event for the season as the final round, scheduled for the 28th of March, has also been cancelled due to the current woes the globe is facing. This brings the season to a premature event, but we still had a season to celebrate, despite being affected by rain, fire, viruses and everything in between. Warren Oldfield in particular is on top of the World as he claimed both the Carbusters Pro Dirt Series and the Perth Motorplex Track Championship. A full season stats release will be posted later, but in the meantime, a huge congratulations to all drivers who competed this season and a big thankyou to all our sponsors, supporters, crews, families and officials for their support in season 2019/20. Late Models had great fields and awesome action at every single show this season so we can’t wait to see you again in 2020/21! 01.01.2022 Just two nights remain! After a few weeks break the Late Models will return to the Perth Motorplex track this Saturday night in the penultimate event of 2019/20... and although the season is winding down, the action is still heating up! A good twenty four cars have nominated for this weekend’s Silver Cup event, with Carbusters Pro Dirt Series leader Warren Oldfield set to do all in his power to defend his lead in that as well as the Perth Motorplex Track Championship. An incredible eight podium finishes (including one win) has seen him at the front most of the season, but he is certainly not willing to settle and will be looking for nothing less than a win this weekend. Michael Holmes is the man best placed to challenge Oldfield for the series win and with four podium finishes of his own this season, has shown he is certainly no slouch behind the wheel. He too is desperate to record a win in the final events of the season and could well do that this Saturday night. Brent Vosbergen has won three features this season while Paul Stubber and Brad Blake have each recorded one apiece and all three drivers will be giving it their all to make sure that they finish the Silver Cup event on the top step of the podium. Jay Cardy has also featured on the podium this season but hasn’t yet broken through for a win so he will be looking to rectify that this weekend, while others including Red Hot Veronica McCann, David Nylander and Daniel Ameduri have been knocking on the door of a podium finish and could well make that final step forward this weekend. Add in the returning Joe Chalmers, New South Welshman Ross Nicastri, pocket rocket Laura Byrnes, the impressive Clint Noakes and sensational rookie Matt Amato to just name a few and we should have another great event this Saturday night!
