23.01.2022 2020 SSA NATIONAL STREET STOCK AND MODIFIED SEDAN TITLES CANCELLED Speedway Sedans Australia wishes to advise competitors that the 2019/2020 SSA National Street... Stock Title and 2019/2020 SSA National Modified Sedan Titles that were scheduled to occur in the latter part of the year in Tasmania have now been cancelled. With the ongoing uncertainty of the COVID-19 crisis around the country at present, Speedway Sedans Australia along with the relevant host venues were left with no option but to cancel the 2019/2020 National Titles for SSA Street Stocks and SSA Modified Sedans. Speedway Sedans Australia CEO Greg Lynd explains "It is with regret that our organisation has to announce that these eagerly anticipated National Titles will not go ahead later in the year due to the current situation around the COVID-19 pandemic". "It had been hoped that the border restrictions would have been relaxed by the time the two National Titles were to occur in Tasmania but as time has gone on that is now an unlikely scenario" Lynd continues. As a result of these cancellations Speedway Sedans Australia can announce that the 2022/2023 SSA National Street Stock Title has been allocated to the Gulf Western & Independent Oils Raceway in Latrobe Tasmania. The 2022/2023 SSA National Modified Sedan Title has been allocated to the Cranes Combined Carrick Speedway with dates for both events to be confirmed in the months ahead. Speedway Sedans Australia would like to thank the promotional teams and host clubs at both the Gulf Western & Independent Oils Raceway and Cranes Combined Cranes Carrick Speedway along with the competitors from both classes for their patience, understanding and co-operation as we navigate these unprecedented times together. An announcement regarding the 2019/2020 SSA National Production Sedan Title to be held at the Ellenbrook Speedway in Western Australia will be released in the coming days ahead. Ends Release

10.01.2022 REBORN TOM PRICE JOINS SPEEDWAY AUSTRALIA Tom Price Speedway, situated in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, is a mining town located at the edge of the H...amersley Range. Tom Price is the highest town above sea level in Western Australia and is consequently dubbed "Top Town in WA". From a speedway fans perspective its south of Nickol Bay and Port Hedland, and northwest of Newman. After the famous track lay dormant for approximately 8 years, a group of car enthusiasts in Tom Price recently approached the Shire of Ashburton about using the speedway as a clubrooms for their newly formed Motorsport club. The venue contains a speedway track, a burnout pad and the clubrooms facility which includes a bar and canteen. The newly formed committee soon realised they had a wave of community support to push them along with local businesses expressing interest in sponsorship and helping wherever they can. The Shire of Ashburton contributed a significant amount of funding which allowed them to renovate and clean up the facility including the removal and upgrade of the starters box and other buildings that no longer met the Shires standards. There was also an issue with the power which the club are still in the process of reinstating. The Tom Price Motorsport committee has proactively built its rapport with the community by helping out at the local drive in during movie nights, manning the gate and canteen to raise funds for the speedway. Theyve displayed classic, collectable and speedway cars at the local markets and the annual Nameless Festival, to create awareness and interest to the club and the sport of speedway. A new eco-friendly toilet was also constructed by Benco group near the main building and only days ago the lease was signed, and the keys were handed over. Next is the clubs AGM and an Open Day which will happen in the next couple of months however there is still a lot of work in the meantime to get the venue back up and running. Special thanks go out to: Peter Sawyer, Ken Rose, Ben Williams, Andrew Andreoli, Cassie Blackwell, John Hanlon, Shaun Bullock, Russell Mead, Mick Palmer, Brent Stevens, Tod Bennett and Ash Docherty. Local businesses who have helped out so far include: Benco Group, Tyrepro And Mechanical Tom Price, Shire of Ashburton, Tom Price Hotel Motel, Rio Tinto Tom Price Speedway has a rich history, with international level Solo and Sprintcar competition in previous iterations. Many people speak of the venue in glowing terms, and theres sure to be a large base of fans who will be delighted to hear of the rebirth. Tom Price becomes the 22nd venue in Western Australia to join the Speedway Australia family, and we wish them every success in the coming months while offering our vast array of complimentary services to the enthusiastic committee.

07.01.2022 GREEN GOES FOR GOLD FOR WA The Executive of Speedway Sedans Western Australia are tonight pleased to announce that Speedway Sedan stalwart Geoff Green has received the third ever SSWA Lifetime Achievement Award. The award has only ever been presented twice before and is in recognition of meritous efforts from an individual over a long period of time that benefits Speedway Sedan racing. Long serving President John Purser was the first recipient back in 2018, with long time Sta...te Secretary Jason Crowe joining Green as a recipient in 2020. Anyone who has been around Speedway would know of Geoff Green and his wife Julie, both of whom have held many roles at the State and National level with the betterment of our great sport always at heart. Geoff started out as a Crew Chief for brother Regs Torana in the 1980s with the Saloon Car Club WA. He then joined the committee and served several terms as President and one as Secretary. WASCF developed further with Geoffs guidance, while he also played roles within the Super Sedan club as well as at popular tracks such as Claremont Speedway. With his wife Julie serving as State and National Secretary, Geoff was the voice of Western Australia on the national scene throughout the 80s, 90s, and into the 2000s when there was no electronic communications like we have today! Geoff was a forceful and passionate go getter for the sport in WA and would also serve terms as the National President and National Vice President over the years. He also recently took on other roles helping tracks around the state, and has for a number of years been WAs board member at a national level. It is for all these reasons that SSWA is proud to recognise Geoff tonight as a recipient of the SSWA Lifetime Achievement Award. Congratulations Geoff.

06.01.2022 SOMETHING TO CROWE ABOUT The Executive of Speedway Sedans Western Australia is today pleased to confirm that long serving State Secretary Jason Crowe has received the second ever SSWA Lifetime Achievement Award. The award has only ever been presented once before and is in recognition of meritous efforts from an individual over a long period of time that benefits Speedway Sedan racing. Long serving President John Purser was the first recipient back in 2018, and now Crowe has j...oined an incredibly exclusive club as just the second winner. Jason Crowe comes from a Speedway family, with many members of the Crowe clan taking their turn behind the wheel of a racecar. Jason however chose to stay behind a microphone, starting to commentate at his home track, Collie Speedway when he was just a youngster. This continued into further roles at Collie Speedway, including positions on the Executive committee and also a long time role taking care of media for the track, and resulted in Jason becoming a life member of the Collie RDA. Jason would then become heavily involved with Sedan racing at a State level, becoming the State Secretary and also being responsible for media, including his very popular commentary that provided passionate and exciting calls to all those who listened. He would then take on a national media role, pioneering the use of live audio and in recent years, spearheading Speedway as it moved into the world of live streaming. Over the years Jason became known as the voice of Speedway Sedans, but also dabbled in other events including calling the World Dragon Boat Championships while also managing an incredibly successful career in football umpiring. He has built a strong reputation at tracks across the country, including the world class Perth Motorplex, and has even been invited to New Zealand next season to call some big events over there. This is just a brief summary of Jasons efforts over many years, and it is Jasons efforts for the betterment of our sport over many, many years that are something to be commended. It is for that reason that SSWA is proud to recognise him as a recipient of the SSWA Lifetime Achievement Award. Congratulations Jason.

03.01.2022 IWANOW 2019/2020 SPEEDWAY SEDANS WA DRIVER OF THE YEAR For the second year in a row Blake Iwanow was voted by the member clubs of Speedway Sedans WA as the 2019/2020 Driver of the Year at the recent AGM of the State Body. Iwanow joins a small club of drivers who have won the award more than once, and an even smaller group of those who have won it back to back.... Blake began his season by claiming his third Tom Green Memorial for SSA Junior Sedans at the Ellenbrook Speedway, just the second driver to win the blue-ribbon race back to back in the Top Stars division and the fourth driver to achieve the win in both New Stars and Top Stars. He then claimed two more feature race wins at Ellenbrook before travelling around WA to compete once again. Blake would win every single race he contested at the Perth Motorplex this season in SSA Junior Sedans and claimed the Track Championship for Junior Sedans, then grabbed victory in the Christmas Cup at Narrogin prior to heading to Collie for the National Junior Sedan Title. Here he would win all four of his qualifying races to start the feature race on pole position, leading the opening few laps before succumbing to issues and finishing a credible eleventh. A week later Blake headed to Makit Hardware Narrogin Speedway for the WA State Title looking for revenge and in what would be his final meeting as a Junior competitor, he would claim three wins and a second from his four qualifying races to again start on pole in the final, where he would lead every lap and become just the third driver in history to claim the WA State Junior Sedan Title back to back. Speedway Sedans WA would like to congratulate Blake once again and widh him all the best for his future in the sport.
