25.01.2022 An amazing night for Australian speedway riders Victorian Max Fricke scored his first Speedway GP win with victory in Round 7 (the second last round) in Torun. ...Fricke was in superb form defeating Maciej Janowski, Tai Woffinden and Bartosz Zmarzlik in the Final. Newcastle (NSW) Jason Doyle missed out on a spot in the semi finals on a count back with 9 points from his qualifying heats. Fellow NSW rider Jack Holder scored 6 points in his qualifying heat rides. Fricke is in 10th place in the standings going into tonight's last round. Doyle is in 6th place and will be determined to do all he can to hold on to that spot to give him automatic qualification for 2021 GP series. Zmarzlik goes into tonight's decider on 113 points - 8 points ahead of Woffinden - looking to make it back-to-back World Titles. Then to top off the night, Victoria's Jaimon Lidsey won the World Under 21 Individual Speedway Championship in Pardubice, Czechoslovakia. He defaeted Dominic Kubera, Oleg Mikhailov and Dan Bewley in the final joining Jason Crump and Leigh Adams as Australians to have won the coveted World Title. Hunter Valley rider Rohan Tungate equal top scored for his team Eagle Lodz in their home track 45 -45 draw with Polonia Bydgoszcz in the Polish First League. Tungate scored 11 + 2. It was a crucial result for Bydgoszcz as the two points from the match helps them in their battle to avoid relegation. Queensland's Keynan Rew was equal top score for Rawicz in their away loss 49 - 41 against Poznan. Rew scored 9 + 1 in the Polish Second League match.

24.01.2022 Thanks to Sydney's Daily Telegraph today for space and, more importantly, supporting speedway. Both the Daily and Sunday Telegraph newspaper have good people at... the helm running their sports departments. They are good people in general. This latest article, Thursday, September 24, came with very short notice and we got it over the line. This post is my acknowledgement to the newspaper editorial staff - on behalf of the sport - for giving speedway some newspaper coverage on a regular basis. I know there are many sports craving for media coverage and I just hope speedway people realise there are some sections of mainstream media out there (in Sydney anyway) who are in speedway's corner. Praise to Sydney's Daily and Sunday Telegraph newspapers. Thank you on behalf of the sport. See more

23.01.2022 WEST COAST INVITATIONAL SOLO SERIES A unique Speedway Solo Championship series is planned for the 2020/21 speedway season which will be run at Western Austral...ia’s Perth Motorplex, 35 minutes south of Perth. Ten of the state’s top solo riders will be contracted to race over a series of five rounds to decide an eventual winner. With plenty of prize money on offer the series is expected to be hard fought and become an annual event on the Western Australian Motorcycle Speedway calendar. The series will commence on 31st October and finish on 27th March 2021. The second round of the five round Championship series on the 5th December coincides with the running of the traditional ‘John Day Classic’ Speedcar division meeting, which attracts one of the largest crowds of any speedway meeting around the country. The invitational five round Championship series at the Perth Motorplex is being planned to showcase solo racing in WA and provide another metropolitan circuit for top WA riders to compete at. The Speedway Motorcycle Club of WA had previously arranged their racing calendar to allow solos to compete at the Perth Motorplex venue to avoid clashing with their own dedicated Pinjar Park Motorcycle Speedway meetings. Brad Muller from 'West Coast Promotions' said, we wanted to select and contract some of the best riders in Western Australia to contest a Championship Series over five rounds at The Perth Motorplex complex to showcase motorcycle speedway racing in front of large crowds of bipartisan 4 wheel fans. Not only does our Invitational Series provide another Championship for the guys to chase, we hope it will encourage some 4-wheel fans to get up to WA’s dedicated Pinjar Park Motorcycle Speedway circuit in Perth’s northern suburbs Brad said, while we are still putting the finishing touches on some fine details, we are well underway with obtaining expressions of interest from potential sponsors for the event We are also trying to arrange a solo ‘Stars of the Future’ support class to the Invitational ‘Championship Series’. While it is not finalised, we are looking to provide an opportunity for these guys to race in some handicap races with a chance of breaking into the Top Stars event should there be any opportunities, he said. We are thrilled to have the support of the Speedway Motorcycle Club, the Perth Motorplex, and Motorcycling WA, the peak body for motorcycling in Western Australia New WA Speedway Motorcycle Club President, Steve Marson said, we are delighted to have senior solo riders competing in this fabulous event at the Perth Motorplex. We have had to reschedule our calendar for this year due to Covid restrictions. The Australian Sidecar Championship which was due to be held in Perth during Easter 2021, has been rescheduled and Pinjar Park will now hold this event in 2021/22. We have lots to rearrange and plan and we are encouraged that 'West Coast Promotions' have stepped in and taken some of the workload to develop and promote speedway motorcycle racing in WA West Coast Promotions are providing great support to our club and from what I hear, they appear to be planning a very professional event for local speedway solo riders which will be good for Motorcycle Speedway in general, he said. Ironically, Steve Marson’s son, Matt, who rides for Mildenhall in the British league will be selected in the top ten riders for the Invitational Championship Series. New Club Vice President, former Kiwi rider, Bryan Miller, should also make the cut. The field will also include several former international stars. Brad Muller said, Despite Covid issues, West Coast Promotions are committed to ensuring speedway solo racing is alive and well in Western Australia. We will release more news on this exciting event as it comes to hand’, he said. Story: Graeme Sinden Photo credits: Jon Gall

USC Pink Night/World Record Demo Derby Attempt/and Australian Titles among others. Further re-assessment will then be made in mid-February for our April 2021 dates. 11.01.2022 The race for the 2020 World Speedway Championship intensified in Prague overnight as riders fought for every point with the battle at the top of the standings r...esulting in hard competition. Australia's Jason Doyle showed his resilience recovering from a heavy fall in the Grand Final to take third place behind Bartoz Zmarzlik and Tai Woffinden. Freddie Lindgren was fourth. It was a tense final with two re-runs required. The first when Woffinden and Doyle tangled in the first corner resulting in Doyle's spectacular crash. The second when Doyle was deemed to be moving at the start. Woffinden took the lead from Zmarzlik in the opening lap only to see Zmarzlik retake the lead in the last half of the last lap. Zmarzlik moves clear at the top of the standings and is well fancied by the critics to successfully defend his World Championship with the last two rounds to be held at his home track in Torun Poland. Jason Doyle has moved in to the vital 6th place in the standings and 7 points clear of Martin Vaculik in 7th place. It was another 'so near, yet so far' night for Australia's Max Fricke. Once again he missed out on a spot in the semi finals on a count back with 7 points. Australian riders played major roles in Polish Speedway League matches overnight. In League 1 Hunter Region rider Rohan Tungate was equal top scorer with 10 + 2 for his home team Lodz in their 47 - 43 win over League leaders Torun. Fellow Australian Jack Holder clearly top scored for Torun with 16 points whilst Chris Holder scored 7. Torun stay on top of the League 1 table and are headed for promotion to the Ekstraliga. In League 2 Newcastle's (NSW) Sam Masters rode to equal top score for Opole in his team's home win 59 - 31 over Poznan. Opole are in second place on the League 2 table,

05.01.2022 COVID-19 UPDATE Official Release: VR Media Thursday, November 2020 With a lot of speculation surrounding the start of the Valvoline Raceway Season, Management c...an confirm that there will be no racing scheduled at the venue over the December/January months. A review of the government restrictions will be made closer to February (around mid-January) and if favourable, an amended calendar will be released after consultation with the division committees. Whilst this decision is regrettable under the current restriction situation, this clarification has been made to allow race teams and their families to be able to plan their time through this period. We appreciate your understanding and support during this time. #WeAreVR --------------------------------------------------------------------------- **EDIT: Once again, it is quite disappointing to read comments that suggest that we will not be racing at all this season; we have said from the very beginning of the Covid Pandemic that we are 100% fully committed to re-opening and racing as soon as it is permittable and we are doing everything in our power to make sure that this in fact eventuates - it may not just be as soon as we would have liked.

03.01.2022 50 Classic Classics cover release! Well, I have been talking about this for a while, but we finally have a cover concept for you all for our upcoming book '50 C...lassic Classics - An Illustrated History of the Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic'. Geoff Rounds, myself and Andrew Green will be assembling this 400-page hard-bound, oversize landscape book over the next 6-12 months, with the final chapter left vacant for when the running of the ground-breaking 50th Classic has been run and won. Geoff has done a wonderful job thus far assembling the year-by-year results, and together with myself and Andrew, we will work on laying out the many images required, memorabilia, first-person memories and race results onto the pages - I can assure everyone who reads this that the book will be nothing short of lavish. Some good people have already expressed interest in supporting this tome, and I must thank the Premier Speedway Manager David Mills for his commitment and support - so too many others who have assisted Geoff with information, images and memorabilia. In the end, books such as this are a group effort. Premier Speedway commentator Gavin White, journos Brett Swanson and Dennis Newlyn, and drivers from the past from Australia, and the USA, along with those involved in the running of the Premier Speedway Club are providing words, and this will only enhance our publication ten-fold. Seven-time Classic champion Garry Rush has kindly lent his support with a Foreword, and in time others will be approached to contribute words - however, this book is a mammoth piece of work and a fitting historical record for one of the world's greatest sprintcar (motor races) on earth. (Please note: the release of '50 Classic Classics' is subject to a confirmed 50th GASC event date) Can't wait to up-date you with more information in the near future. Tony Loxley Publisher
