24.01.2022 Electric Blues Duo, The Blues Healers, are returning to The Speewah Country Tavern on Saturday, 21 Nov. Playing a mix of traditional and original blues and boogie numbers, as well as a few covers, they will soon have you a movin’ and a groovin’!

24.01.2022 So, we all made it through Corona Virus Ok so far and as restrictions ease, we get a little closer to what we used to say was normal. We would like to thank the Speewah, Koah and Kuranda communities for their ongoing support which has helped us through this rough period. We are so lucky to have been able to continue trading and we feel for those who have not. Restrictions will now... be eased for us, commencing Saturday 16th May. Breakfast from 6.30am and Lunch from 11.30 am. Under the current level of restrictions we are now able to reopen the restaurant for meals and serve alcohol to those eating. However we can only accommodate 10 persons at a time as per those restrictions. In an attempt to accommodate these numbers we offer 3 sessions. From 5.30pm to 6.30pm, 6.30pm to 7.30pm and 7.30pm to 8.30pm. The last session would need to have orders taken before 8.00pm. 22.01.2022 Breaking news...... Family Court Ruling from Queensland Australia A seven year old boy was at the centre of a courtroom drama yesterday when he challenged a cou...rt ruling over who should have custody of him. The boy has a history of being beaten by his parents and the judge initially awarded custody to his aunt, in keeping with the child custody law and regulations requiring that family unity be maintained to the degree possible. The boy surprised the court when he proclaimed that his aunt beat him more than his parents and he adamantly refused to live with her. When the judge suggested that he live with his grandparents, the boy cried out that they also beat him. After considering the remainder of the immediate family and learning that domestic violence was apparently a way of life among them, the judge took the unprecedented step of allowing the boy to propose who should have custody of him. After two recesses to check legal references and confer with child welfare officials, the judge granted temporary custody to the New South Wales state of origin team , whom the boy firmly believes are not capable of beating anyone. For the first time, they will be playing an entire set of their original blues and boogie numbers. Texas Blues, Chicago Blues, Southern Blues, Boogie ’n Blues Did someone say Blues? The Blues has the power to heal!

09.01.2022 Contrary to what some think The Speewah Tavern is open in its capacity to provide the community with takeaway food. The Office of Liquor and Gaming is quite clear in its instructions as to who can remain open. Pizzas and with a few exception the full Tavern Menu is available for takeaway everyday from 5.30pm to 8.00pm. We will also be putting together a range of frozen meals some of which we have been doing for a while. They will include Lasagna, Pasta bake and Curry and ric...e. Look for them in our freezer. If you find you have to self isolate or you just can't get down here, then arrangements can be made for your takeaway to be delivered free. The Service Station and convenience store will be open normal times. As with everywhere we are suffering from a few shortages. We look forward to assisting the Speewah and Koah communities get through this testing time. See more
