20.01.2022 The final conversation in our Talking Literacy webinar series will be released today. Professor Mark Seidenberg talks about why he wrote his wonderful book Lan...guage at the Speed of Sight: How We Read, Why So Many Can't, and What Can Be Done About It. He also discusses the importance of evidence-informed teacher training and much more. This conversation will be released at 3:00pm AWST / 6:00pm AEDT today. Mark Seidenberg is a cognitive scientist, neuroscientist and psycholinguist who has studied language, reading and dyslexia for more than 30 years. His research explores basic questions about the nature of language and how it is acquired, used, and represented in the brain. His main interest is in how reading skill is acquired by children and the causes of dyslexia. He is committed to exploring how the science of reading can contribute to improve educational performance. The next Talking Liter...acy conversation is with Kate Nation and will be released this Tuesday. Professor Kate Nation is an experimental psychologist and a recognised expert on language and literacy development in school age children. She is a Professor of Experimental Psychology and Fellow of St. John’s College of the University of Oxford, where she directs the ReadOxford project and the Language and Cognitive Development Research Group. In 2018, Kate co-authored the paper Ending the Reading Wars: Reading Acquisition from Novice to Expert.
