25.01.2022 Our thoughts and prayers are with all affected by the bushfire crisis, along with firefighters, emergency services, and countless volunteers working tirelessly to protect Australian communities. SPEL Stormwater recognises the scope of the current Australian bushfire crisis and its impact on Australian businesses. Mayor Margaret Thomas said the idea for installing the gross pollutant trap had been met with much enthusiasm by local school students. The students from Gooseberry Hill Primary had already researched the benefits of drainage nets and trash traps and other ways to reduce pollution in the Stirk Park creek and improve the water quality of Poison Gully and wanted to share their ideas and get feedback from City staff. 15.01.2022 After extreme dry conditions, were now seeing flooding across Australia. Sydney has been on the front line of torrential rain and flooding. But what happens next? Stormwater carries nutrients, like nitrogen and phosphorus, and drives pollution directly into Sydneys waterways. SMH wrote a fantastic article in 2015 about causes, impacts, and opportunities for reuse.

05.01.2022 One of our values guides us to find the positive in every negative. This imagery might be contrary to every communications handbook, but were saying it. We remember, and were finding the positive. Our hands are together with our minds and hearts to ensure we all endure, personally and professionally. Were finding new ways to communicate and operate and this is teaching us invaluable long-term lessons. Were learning even more about the fantastic people who work for us, and... the clients we work with, by their motivation, their leadership, and their resilience. Its inspiring. Remember what we had and use it as your motivation for enduring this previously unfathomable new. Remember fondly the welcoming handshakes, the elation in high-fives, the uplifting backslaps, the celebratory hugs, the electric morning team-huddles shared over coffee bringing us together like penguins in an Attenborough documentary. We remain realistic and deeply affected by the serious nature of COVID-19, experienced by all of us. However, our way through this is together. Socially connecting, not just distancing. NB: Image contains professional actors. Do not try this at home, in the workplace, or anywhere, really. Just for a little while longer. #findthepositive #sociallyconnecting #covid19
