23.01.2022 This week at SPESC we are working on learning and practicing how to be friendly while using equipment. We learned how to sign My turn. and talked about the importance of waiting while our friends have a go. At school we will also have adults model taking turns with students. At home this could look like taking turns picking up toys, picking something to watch on tv, or even setting the table. ... What is one way your child practices taking turns at home?

19.01.2022 Wednesday Drumming sessions with Chappy! The drum is the perfect medium to engage children - it's cool, easy to play (reduces fear of failure) and playing it is physical (releases tension). It is an instrument many students feel comfortable with and playing it with others is a very safe way of communicating.

19.01.2022 Week 10 can bring on a bundle of emotions for students - elation for upcoming school holidays, sadness for missing friends and also the uncertainty of a change in routine. At SPESC we are focusing on how to stay safe at home over the holidays, by talking about activities we can do at home, and how to play safely with equipment and toys. What are some of your favourite activities to play or do with your child during holiday time?
