25.01.2022 Queensland International Student Crisis Assistance Package Last updated: 10:00AM Friday 29 May 2020 The Queensland Government has more than tripled its support for students, boosting its state-wide international education assistance and recovery package to $15 million.... As part of this package, an additional $10 million will now be made available to support international students experiencing severe financial hardship as a result of COVID-19. Study Queensland recognises that many international students have lost their income and are feeling a heightened sense of anxiety being away from family during the pandemic, with many unable to travel home. The new funding complements a range of relief programs already introduced by the Queensland Government, universities, education and training providers and local communities to support students during this difficult time. Queensland International Student Crisis Assistance Grant The Queensland Government is providing one-off financial grants of $500 to eligible international students in Queensland. You are NOT eligible: If you are an international student at a university or TAFE Queensland, you are NOT eligible for the one-off grant. Please see information below and contact your institution to seek hardship support. You ARE eligible if you are: Over 18. Currently enrolled at a CRICOS registered education provider in Queensland that is: Not a university based in or with a campus in Queensland. Not TAFE Queensland. Not a primary or secondary school. Hold an international student visa to study at a Queensland education and training provider. Currently living in Queensland. Currently have $1500AUD or less in their bank account - with proof of transactions from 19 May 2020 onwards. Must have an Australian bank account. If you are applying, the information you provide must be true and accurate. If you are assessed as eligible, you will receive a one-off $500 payment to your Australian bank account. Please note, it could take 7-10 business days to receive this payment into your bank account. How to apply Applications for the Queensland International Student Crisis Assistance Grant are through the Queensland Government Community Recovery Portal of the Department of Communities, Disability, Services and Seniors. Throughout the application process, you may see references to the Department of Communities, Disability Services and Seniors.
