24.01.2022 BODY PUMP REPRESENT lovely to see Nicole out and about and make the most of her iso! Shes another early bird 6am pumper - heres what shes been up to over the last few weeks: There havent been many good things about lockdown but there has been one positive for me from a fitness perspective. Its forced me out of my comfort zone. I would always tell me people: Im not a runner but during the first lockdown I decided to set the alarm and head down to the beach be...fore the sun came up. At the end of the first run, I looked around at the beautiful scenery and gave thanks for my health, my family and for the fact we live in the most amazing place in the world. I dont run very fast and Im not sure Ill ever be up to running a marathon but a couple of times every week I head down to the waters edge and I run. I put one foot in front of the other, I breathe in the fresh air and I try and forget about all thats going on - even for just a few minutes (I struggle with this bit a lot!!). This is the little bit of normal in my day. I own it and the strength I get from it mentally and physically helps get me through these uncertain days. Thanks Nicole! Most of you will have seen her smiley face around the club and in the PT lead classes We caught up with her for some #isochat to see what shes been up to and also received a lovely testimonial from one of her Zoom clients: what have you been doing in iso:... Ive been focussing on staying positive by doing lots of small things to keep the mind and body busy. Lots of "walkies" with the dog, training, reading, cooking and talking with friends give us 1 tip for maintaining health and fitness in Stage 4: Get up and move your body. It can be getting in a training session , going for a walkor dancing to music around the house. All I can say is thank goodness were in lockdown so no one can see my dance moves how do you stay motivated: I try to keep up with my training because I know how much better Ill feel afterwards. It doesnt matter if I cant train exactly the way I did before lockdown because something is always better then nothing can you share a positive thought: Its all about perspective. You can either focus on all the things you cant control or you can start looking at all the things you can and making the most of those opportunities Testimonial from Miia (Zoom Client): i am delighted to say that I have been doing better during the Melbourne lockdown 2.0 due to my weekly Zoom PT sessions with Kate. 21.01.2022 Hi everyone its PT week this week at Mentone and for those that mightnt know much about me, I thought Id share that Ive been a PT for 20 years now (yes Im old ) - training people is my passion! A couple of my clients have been with me for 15+ years and theres nothing more I love than improving peoples health and quality of life. At the moment Im missing our lovely club and our awesome members and I cant wait to get back in and see everyone Heres a bit of a Q&A... so you can see what been going in my life: What Ive been doing in iso: Juggling is how Id best describe it! And keeping to a routine. Im at home with a 2 year old, my husband is working from home and Im also working, training and trying to keep healthy as Im 4.5 months pregnant! 1 tip for maintaining health and fitness in Stage 4: Commit to your fitness first thing - get up early and train, otherwise the day gets away from you. If you cant fit it in currently - get up earlier #makeithappen How I stay motivated: Im very task driven and intrinsically motivated. I start the day with a list and check the the points off. At night, I celebrate with a bowl of ice cream A positive thought: Your attitude determines your direction

21.01.2022 TUESDAY TIMEOUT WITH MENTONE PT Aaron hes featuring a lot in our socials at the moment, so for those that havent had the pleasure of meeting Aaron, heres a bit of a Q&A and some great feedback from one of his Zoom sessions: What are your tips for staying fit: I put my training on a to-do list for the day and make sure to tick it off. Trying to spend more time in the kitchen and less on Uber. How do you stay motivated: my friend and I hold each other accountabl...e to get our training done, sometimes we train together via Zoom Give is a happy thought: everything is temporary, when you are having a bad time keep it mind that it will end and when you are having a good time just enjoy the moment as it wont last CLIENT FEEDBACK The induction I had with Aaron was great, we started off with having a chat and making the space relaxing and inviting. He brought in his dog which was good fun. He kept the call informal and light and prompted me to just have a little chat about myself and feel comfortable doing so. He made sure he got a good look into life for me at home and cared about everything I was saying. This started to open up the conversation to my daily exercise and eating routines and allowed him to give great relevant advice and encouragement. I found that when he allowed me to get anything off my chest I needed to or talk about how I felt it made me know that he went above and beyond for me. He didnt just focus on exercise regime and food intake but the emotional state, he focused on the holistic approach. Thanks Aaron from @pumpup.com.au! 20.01.2022 SAT AM ZUMBA whos missing their weekend boogie and fun times with Naki? We caught up with her to see what shes been up to this iso: Like many others Ive been indulging in a few Netflix marathons and snacking too much, but I have had a number of Iso achievements such as laying this brick patio and making garden furniture out of packing crates (all by myself!). It was supposed to be a space for my kids to hang out with their friends - sadly they cant do that now, but one day Im really missing all the Zumba crew - its not as much fun dancing on my own! 19.01.2022 Loving the Group Ex commitment in the club at the moment also some FANTASTIC feedback on our new app from one of our avid GEX members Jan: Hi Erin, just thought you might like to hear how easy & fantastic I am finding the new South Pacific App. Not only can you now book your classes 48 hours in advance but you can also add & delete yourself to waiting lists that appear to refresh continuously, with appropriate reminders of your booking status. As if thats not enough, y...ou can also see who is actually participating in your class & who is your instructor. The ease with which this all happens is very exciting for me as the old App was inaccurate, time consuming & made me feel quite useless & reliant on the poor girls on the desk to help me book sessions. So far I have managed to get into every class of my choice on my own. Sooooo happy, thanks again Jan D’Arcy thanks so much for the awesome write-up!

I have gone from needing to visit my osteo frequently to now, not at all. I have seen a massive cha...nge in my body, losing 10kg and more importantly feeling stronger and happier than I ever have before. Perfect class to get your heart rate up and your sweat on we caught up with her to see how shes going and heres what she had to say: Lockdown has been busy for me! Ive moved house and been moving my business online temporarily as well as doing a spot of DIY to keep things interesting. For exercise I like to do Bodyattack and I have a spin bike which I use for a bit of daily... movement as I dont like walking in a mask (I get claustrophobic and dont like that I cant see peoples expressions!) Ive also done a little les mills grit which is different but similar to Bodyattack I miss my classes at SPHC and cant wait to see everyone again! Us either Suzie! Well see you soon

12.01.2022 MOVEMENT AND MOBILITY WITH MATT We were lucky enough to get some great tips to improve shoulder mobility from our PT Matt this weekend- enjoy and get mobile Here is a sequence of mobility and activation exercises focussed on the shoulder, which will take around 10 minutes to complete! Every day would be a good goal. ... Shoulder and neck complaints would probably be the most common complaint for full time desk workers! These exercises will help to mobilise tight joints and strengthen the key muscles required for maintaining a good posture. Mobility: Childs pose (left and right walk) Up dog and down dog Open book Hook lying snow angels Hook lying chest strength Thread the needle Activation: 90 degee arm raise 45 degree arm raise YWT exercise Serratus knee push up I would look for 2 x 30s each side for everything

10.01.2022 A great 2min vid from Mentone PT Matt @mfmovement__ to help those of us working from home, and suffering with tight neck / shoulders at the moment: Here are some ways we can strengthen and release key postural muscles. It is pretty common for many of us to struggle with tight shoulders and a stiff upper back from sitting at work, these exercises should aid with stabilising the shoulder blades in a strong position to handle the demands of desk work. 1 & 2. Ball pec release.... This is used to release a tight pec minor muscle which can be therapeutic for some people. 2. Wall chin retraction isometric: make a weird double chin and push into the wall with your head, this strengthens key neck muscles that maintain posture. 3. Seated theraband row: Back strength is for maintaining posture for long periods of time. 4. Bird dog cat camel: This exercise aids to stabilise the scapula as well as work through the motion of rounding and retracting, which will increase shoulder stability. 5. Plank hand slide: This hurts. Great for shoulder stability. 6. Floor cogs: The goal is to think about arching and flattening both your lower back and neck at different times to mobilise key muscles for optimal posture

02.01.2022 PT WEEK AT MENTONE Shout out to our awesome PT team this week - looking forward to sharing some great member feedback, workouts and fun in the fitness space! Matts jumped straight into Zoom training with most of his clientele and we received some excellent feedback from a client trying it for the first time: Had a really good session, Matt catered to my situation perfectly. I had no equipment but Matt was still able to create a great workout using only body weight ex...ercises. He made sure to understand what kind of training I preferred and what I had been doing and made a session that still worked towards my goals even with limited space and equipment. We did a full body session- mainly lower body and Matt made sure to follow up the next day to see how I was feeling. Really enjoyed the session- got a good burn and it was great to be held accountable for the full workout and to have my technique corrected and pointers for follow up workouts to do myself nice work Matt! 01.01.2022 AMAZING NEWS if you missed the email update, we’re SUPER excited to announce that gym floor bookings & capped time sessions have been removed from Monday 23rd November. Mentone will move from a capacity of 20 to ONE HUNDRED MEMBERS. This means more freedom on the gym floor Bookings are only required for CLASSES with increased capacity and always adhering to 1.5M social distancing.... Whoo hoo
