22.04.2022 Today is #GlobalAccessibilityAwarenessDay We want to get people thinking about access and inclusion in the workplace! Workplace accessibility isn't only about people needing wider door spaces, easy access to bathrooms and car spaces, it also means being open to being technologically accessible!... Assistive technology in workplace includes devices like screen readers, text-to-speech systems, phones with large tactile buttons, mobility aids, hearing aids sensor-based switches and extendable reaching devices. Conversations about inclusion and access in the workplace have shifted a lot since the beginning of the pandemic. It has highlighted that accessibility includes flexible and remote work opportunities. Which has given people with disabilities more of chance to access gainful employment where they may not have been able to before. Talking about access and inclusion should start with your employer. Sharing your experiences and access requirements helps normalise disability in the workplace, reduces stigma and paves the way for a better working environment. If you want to know about our EmployAbility program head to https://employability.org.au/ #GAAD2022 #GAAD
