20.01.2022 DON'T LET YOUR BACK, HOLD YOU BACK...Usain Bolt doesn't! By Susie Carnegie I know I have said it before, but I'll say it again, spinal problems do not always equal pain. If you have been told you have disc narrowing, spondylosis or SCOLIOSIS this doesn't necessarily have to limit your activities. Usain has SCOLIOSIS, and has just won gold in 100m at the World Championships! With effective treatment and exercise it is possible to achieve your goals, even if it is just to comfortably bend to put your socks and shoes on first thing in the morning!!

09.01.2022 INCIDENTAL EXERCISE By Susie Carnegie Incidental exercise is any exercise that is part of your daily routine, i.e., hoovering, walking round the supermarket, taking the stairs rather than the escalator. Most of us have busy lives and don't make time for the recommended amount of exercise. Instead of joining a gym why don't you try and increase your incidental exercise! Park your car at the far end of the car park, get off the bus two stops early, pick up your walking pace, ...get up and move around when the ads are on, and these are just a few suggestions! Not only will your spine be happier with a greater amount of movement, it will also help reduce your risk for diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Get moving!!

08.01.2022 Processed MEAT and MIGRAINES Have you all been avoiding bacon and salami after WHO (World Health Organisation) implicating processed meat as a culprit in causing bowel cancer? Recently I have had a number of patients change to standing work stations due to fact that sitting seemed to be the main culprit in re-aggravation of their lower back problem. Not only does prolonged sitting increase the risk of disc problems but it has also been shown to increase the risk of heart disease due to increased strain on the heart to pump the blood around our body....
