12.01.2022 Thanks to the Daily Telegraph for the article A REAL KNEES-UP. The article in today’s paper on page 3 explains that resting postures such as squatting or kneeling may be healthier than sitting on a chair. This is because anything that’s not a typical sitting position involves more muscle activity. This is based off data that was gathered from a hunter gather tribe in Tanzania who wore special tracking devices measuring physical activity and rest. Despite being sedentary f...or up to 10 hours, the Hazda people did not present with the chronic disease markers as you would typically expect for long hours of sitting! The active rest postures they were doing for up to 10 hours a day such as squatting and kneeling require their muscles to maintain light levels of activity which is much better for general health! Let’s be more like the Hazda’s of Tanzania and adopt more squatting and kneeling

09.01.2022 WORKING FROM HOME? With the increase in people working from home, it is important to have an ergonomic home office space. Follow these guidelines to ensure you minimise your risk of injury or pain from poor posture. Set up a specific work station at home (don't just work on the couch with your laptop). ... Set the chair at your work station up properly with towels under the back half of your chair. A keyboard for your laptop is necessary, so your wrists can be flat while working on your raised laptop. Put some books under your laptop or get a laptop stand so your not hunched over your laptop. Stand up every 20 minutes. Home-based core exercises every day, it doesn't have to be a massive workout but keeping active is really important. For cardio, skipping is a great way to get your heart racing without having to leave home.
