24.01.2022 What's so special about the Chiropractic Adjustment? Chiropractic adjustments help restore the normal function of the neuromusculoskeletal system by applying a manual force to the joints of the spine that are restricted in movement. The audible pop you hear is not your "bone cracking" or "breaking", it's simply the gas inside the joint escaping and is known as an "audible release" or "joint cavitation". ... These adjustments are painless and effective! Don't get cracked, get adjusted!! #Chiro#rehab#headaches#backpain#neckpain#posture#health#dryneedling#Spine#chiropracticadjustment#Key

24.01.2022 What makes cupping so special? Not only does cupping leave you with funky (temporary) circle tattoos, it also helps with treating acute and chronic injuries. It does this by drawing more blood to an area which helps increase oxygenation and tissue repair, relaxes tight muscles and helps stretch out fascia. At Spine & Co, we use this method in conjunction with dry needling and specific joint adjustments to aid in your recovery. Give cupping a go today by calling us on (02) 95...97 3187 or 0452 121 256. #chiro #backpain #cuppingtherapy #dryneedling #gotyourback #SPINE #muscle #jointhealth #wellbeing #trustyourchiro #injury #repairhealing See more

23.01.2022 SKY HIGH Dont we all love a stiletto heel to compliment any outfit, but unfortunately wearing footwear as such on a daily can definitely take its toll on your knees, hips and spine! Because high heels increase the pressure on the balls of the feet through a downward force, excessive pressure is placed on the knees. The lower back is pushed forward in an arched position taking your hips and spine out of natural alignment to maintain some sort of balance. So while your lower body leans forward, your upper body must lean back to compensate. This is where important muscles become overused, tight and fatigue- leading to back and leg pain. I generally advise my patients to limit high heel use to special occasions, and follow through with calf stretches before and after use

22.01.2022 THE CROSS TRAINER Newest addition to our Rehab Room The Cross Trainer is a machine that we frequently prescribe to our patients due to its effectiveness on the entire body -working the upper limb, core and lower body. Not only does it offer an exceptional cardio workout but its highly protective on joints due to its impact-free structure. This means less pressure is applied to the ankles, knees, hips and low back when exercising, making it a great alternative for those wh...o have issues around those joints. #chiro #rehab #muscle #recovery #spine #ankle #hips #knee #gym See more

20.01.2022 RED RIMS Notice the change in colour of the skin when these acupuncture needles are inserted. Why? VASODILATION! Again- why? Because needling stimulates an increase in blood flow when penetrating the skin. Consider it as a flared reaction.. but a good one! It means the temperature in that area is increasing and the vessels begin to expand- thus giving an increase in circulation. What does that mean for you? An increase in OXYGEN! As fresh blood carries a high volume of oxygen, this is crucial in healing injured muscles, ligaments and tendons! #acupuncture#dryneedling#chiro#shoulderpain#neckpain#headaches#levatorscap#paraspinal#uppertraps#wollicreek

19.01.2022 DID YOU KNOW: You are about 1cm taller in the morning! WHY? Because while we are asleep, our spines are no longer subject to the pressures of gravity. This allows our body to replenish fluid in our intervertebral discs, making them nice and plump, allowing you to gain that extra bit of height. ... However, as the day goes on and gravity takes its toll while we weight bear, that extra bit of fluid drains back out and we compress those discs, losing that extra bit of height we gained. Good morning. You are now at your tallest, embrace it. #StandTall #Discs #Cartlidge #Spine #Chiro

19.01.2022 Good posture is the new black The communication between muscles and joints is important for maintaining good postural alignment. 16.01.2022 Dry needling is an excellent way to relieve tension in the neck and shoulders which could be the cause of your joint & muscle dysfunction and headaches. 15.01.2022 DESK DINOSAURS So commonly, patients present with chronic neck, shoulder and low back pain from sitting at their work desks for 8- 9 hours a day, 5 days per week (on a minimum)! We generally underestimate how detrimental this can be not only to our musculoskeletal system, but also our general and mental wellbeing. I advise my patients to stand up every 20 minutes and perform a few stretches that will not only refresh your mind and increase your focus, but your muscles/j...oints will thank you too! This patient is a typical example of what years of computer use can lead to, she would also suffer from recurrent headaches arising from her neck. As you can see, dry needling to her upper back and cupping to her low back are just a few of the techniques used to relieve her symptoms. Of course, it doesnt just end in the treatment room. Specific home based exercises and stretching have been advised to prolong her relief and limit these issues from returning in the future. Stay posted for some great stretches you can do at your desk! #chiropractor#desk#neckpain#backpain#muscles#wollicreek#pilates#yoga#stretching#healthiswealth See more

05.01.2022 PLANTAR FASCIITIS Have you been struggling with foot pain that is only temporarily responsive to ice rolling, massage or anti-inflammatory medications? One of the biggest issues I find with recurrent plantar fasciitis is a dysfunction occurring higher up the chain. Don't forget, your body is an intelligent system. If there is an imbalance with the activation and firing of muscles such as your gluts and quads, the lower chain will begin to compensate, work harder and become ...tighter. With this compensation however, comes pain. Treating the symptoms with releasing the calf and plantar fascia is a great starting point, but emphasis should be made on activating the under active muscles to keep the problem from returning. #chiro #rehab #pain #muscle #joint #recovery #plantar #fascia #hip #knee #quads #hamstring #ITB #wellness #spine See more

01.01.2022 A few simple tips to help you practice correct work station ergonomics 1. Adjust your monitor so the top 1/3 of the screen is at eye level. Be sure you are not having to excessively tilt your neck up or down as this can lead to joint fixations and muscular fatigue. 2. Avoid shrugging your shoulders by allowing your arms to drop naturally and hang lightly onto your arm rest. ... 3. Adjust your chair height so that your elbows are at the same level as your table height. 4. Sit all the way back into your chair with your shoulders back and lower spine supported. Have your thighs horizontal with a 90-100 degree angle at the hip. 5. Have your feet positioned flat on the ground for greater stabilisation. This will also allow your back to remain upright. If your legs can't reach, use a footrest. 6. Do not cradle the phone between your ear and shoulder. This leads to compression of the neck and excessive hiking of the shoulder. Instead, use a headset when taking calls or a speaker phone if the environment is suitable. 6. Get up every 20-30 minutes to stretch and move about. A good way to do this is by filling a cup of water each time rather than having a bottle of water at your desk. This encourages regular movement, hydration and focus.

01.01.2022 There's no such thing as placing a band aid on an injury or treating just the symptoms. Although pain relief is definitely something that patients come in for, emphasis should be made on finding the root cause of your pain, correcting it and preventing it from returning. At Spine & Co, a combination of manual therapy, rehabilitation and patient education are important aspects of care to restore function and aid recovery. #Chiropractic #AdjustTheCause #FacilitateMovement... #Strengthen #PreventIon Call us on (02) 9597 3187 or 0452 121 256 to book your next appointment and make 2017 the year of a healthy, pain free lifestyle.
