21.01.2022 ASIC is ramping up it's surveillance activities .This will include looking at financial advice given to people about transition to retirement pensions and rev...erse mortgage strategies . They are looking at various stages in the retirement process which include initial decision making about commencing retirement income streams ,the clients ability to manage retirement income products and structures especially with the onset of cognitive decline, and the need to plan for aged care. ASIC will continue to keep a close eye on advisers , particularly the bigger bank based advice arms to ensure they act professionally and in their clients best interest. ASIC is also working on a user pays model where those who stand to benefit the most from the industry actually pay to help them police the industry ....Thereby reducing reliance solely on the federal government budget to fund their surveillance activities.
