25.01.2022 A wonderful yoga retreat incorporating Zen Shiatsu. Highly recommended.

24.01.2022 A beautifully simple explanation of training your brain: making friends with your mind.

23.01.2022 Hi everyone, The Spirit of Touch will be open until Friday December 22 and re-open on Tuesday January 16, 2018. Wishing all of you a merry Christmas and a happy new year.

22.01.2022 This about sums up The Spirit of Touch's philosophy on food. Keep it real.

21.01.2022 Thanks for much to Meins Designs for the beautiful meditation cushions that have just arrived. I'll use them with much pleasure!

20.01.2022 Until August 20, we are offering a free moxa treatment with every Zen Shiatsu treatment. Moxa has many benefits for your health. It's warming and grounding, helping you to fight off colds and flu. Moxa has been shown to increase both white and red blood cell production, improve blood and lymph circulation, stimulate the digestive system and boost immune function. The ancients also believed that moxa treatments give you more energy and promote longevity. The moxa box is pictured below. The box contains a stainless steel mesh which protects against falling ash or burning moxa and is great for first-time users, being very safe to use. Looking forward to seeing you for your treatment soon!

19.01.2022 Fascinating discussion on the commonalities between neuroscience and Buddhist philosophy.

18.01.2022 The approach I take with my clients is the one that science is starting to come around to: that universal diets don't suit everyone and that what we should be eating is something that must be looked at on the level of the individual. I'm thinking of writing a book about food as medicine based on my years of experience with clients on the individual dietary approach.

18.01.2022 The Spirit of Touch website has been optimised for mobile and has a terrific new look with a great font, courtesy of the talented and amazing Alex Williams at Thermal Exposure. If it was possible for me to send you a shiatsu to Seattle I would! http://www.spiritoftouch.com.au/

16.01.2022 The Spirit of Touch re-opens tomorrow January 9th. Wishing all of you a safe & happy 2016! This is the view from the clinic at its finest. Enjoy!

16.01.2022 The importance of good sleep and why you shouldn't have your phone or tablet in bed with you:

12.01.2022 Everyones busy with the end of the financial year so Im truly grateful for the lovely client who showed her appreciation in this beautiful way.

11.01.2022 With daytime temperatures cooling to about 20C, it's time to start pickling. First up are ginger pickles. Find the recipe here: http://www.spiritoftouch.com.au/2012/03/27/ginger-pickles/

10.01.2022 The Spirit of Touch will be open from tomorrow, Tuesday January 17. Wishing all of you a healthy and happy 2017.

10.01.2022 Along with our fruits, vegetables and proteins we are consuming pesticides, herbicides and plant-growth regulators and we don't know how they interact with one another in our bodies in the long-term. There's a great video in this article showing how after only 2 weeks of consuming organic foods, almost all chemical additives tested in the urine samples of this family fell to nearly zero.

10.01.2022 I remember my first fast and the sense of clarity and calm it gave me for months afterwards. Right now in Australia we're still in the middle of winter so we still need to eat to warm out bodies and replenish ourselves but come spring, it'll be time to eat less and gain the benefits of cutting back temporarily on what we eat.

09.01.2022 I've been getting good results with moxa for pain relief from arthritis and it's great to see that trials are also showing these benefits. I often send clients home with a moxa stick so they can do it themselves. Smelly but effective!

09.01.2022 The sign is up & we're live in Maroubra. Looking forward to seeing you here soon.

09.01.2022 A rather dramatic presentation of the benefits of moxibustion:

09.01.2022 Western science catching up with Oriental medicine...

09.01.2022 De-cluttering is something that I recommend as a method to balance the energy flow of clients who manifest an inability to let go in their Zen Shiatsu diagnosis. I ask them to chose a closet in their home and get rid of anything they have not used or worn in 2, 3 or 5 years. Often, clients have an emotional reaction or sense of grief about letting something go that mirrors some emotional attachment that they cling to that no longer serves them or something that they have been unable to express. The actions we take in our everyday lives, looked at from Oriental Medical Philosophy, take on profound emotional and spiritual significance, if we can open ourselves up to be mindful about them. Rather than taking a critical, analytical approach as in this article, we look inward to find the balance that is individual to ourselves.

08.01.2022 One of my dreams coming true: teaching children to meditate and giving them tools to manage their feelings, their stress levels and improve their mental and emotional resilience.

08.01.2022 This is awesome. Structural problems like scoliosis and kyphosis can be significantly improved with yoga and shiatsu. I've worked with many people over the years with these problems and as little as one yoga class a week is enough to see significant improvement in posture and alignment. As this woman shows, it doesn't matter what age you are, you can always heal. Thanks to Kar En for the tip!

08.01.2022 Everyone’s busy with the end of the financial year so I’m truly grateful for the lovely client who showed her appreciation in this beautiful way.

07.01.2022 Science giving us more reasons to avoid flour and sugar:

07.01.2022 Animal shiatsu.

04.01.2022 Yoga keeping you 105 years young!

03.01.2022 Some great tips on how to nourish yourself in late summer with a beautiful infographic about stomach and spleen/pancreas energy in Oriental medical theory.

03.01.2022 Modern science catching up with ancient wisdom!

02.01.2022 Great short video of how chronic stress affects the brain and what you can do about it.

02.01.2022 Today, not only did I have the three funniest clients who kept me in fits of laughter all day, but we were graced with the presence of dolphins swimming past us. My thanks to the lovely client who did not mind me stopping the treatment to gaze in wonder at the pod of dolphins jumping in and out of the water on their way south. I learnt that several of my clients call me 'Morphine' - good to know I have a superpower like that.

02.01.2022 Merry Christmas and a happy and safe New Year to all. The Spirit of Touch will re-open on Tuesday January 17th. See you then!

01.01.2022 Science is exploring the link between food and mood. Something those of you who have Zen Shiatsu treatments know a lot about!

01.01.2022 It's great to see the western medical community get behind the idea that you are what you eat. Food is our medicine and can be both a source of prevention of illness and a cure for it. This philosophy is the basis of all the advice given about food during a Zen Shiatsu treatment.

01.01.2022 One of the prize-winners of this year's Nobel Prize in Medicine and Physiology is Tu Youyou who based her anti-malaria research using Chinese herbal medical knowledge. Artemisinin comes from artemisia annua (sweet wormwood) which as been used for centuries to treat malaria in Chinese medicine. Another member of the artemisia genus (mugwort) is the plant used for moxibustion.
