23.01.2022 An angel? Or simply a heart-warming experience? What do you think? Yesterday I finally arrived at the Sacramento International Airport after a long journey fro...m Santa Fe. I was tired from several flights and an early morning. I dragged my heavy suitcases to the airport shuttle to catch a ride to economy parking. The shuttle pulled up to the curb; the driver jumped out and grabbed my suitcases . . . with a HUGE smile. (I've flown in and out of this airport many many times and it is highly unusual for me to get such joyous service on the shuttle.) Strangely, I was the only person on the shuttle. It has been full every time I have taken it before. Again, with a huge smile, he said, "So I'm taking you to B11, right?" There are hundreds of stops, how could he know what my stop was? I said, "How do you know my stop?" He said, "But that is the right stop, isn't it?" I opened my phone to see what my stop was. (I had photographed it, so I could remember it . . . . and he was right, it was B11.) How could he know? Was he psychic? An angel in disguise? Or was it a good guess? Whenever I meet someone on my journeys who is joy-filled, I always ask what their secret is; so I asked him . . . because there was a radiant glow around him. He said, "It might seem that I have no reason to be happy. I'm from Ethiopia and my entire family was killed. I saw my parents and my sweet sister and younger brothers killed. Additionally, all my aunts, uncles and cousins were killed. "I am the only one that survived. I was put into a refugee camp for two years, where I was always hungry and only had one shirt and one pair of pants, and nothing else for two years.) "Of course, the human part of me was very sad, and even guilty for being the only one who survived. But we all have a larger self that is connected to the Creator. It's that part that understands that there is always a higher purpose for everything, even if we don't understand it. We are all loved, even if we are not aware of it. "I came to understand that the only thing that is truly important is finding joy in every moment. No matter where you are. No matter what life experiences you have, there is always something to be grateful for. This is the secret of happiness. "Don't wait for joy, because you don't know what's around the corner. Find it in the moment. The Creator is Here Now. Joy is Here Now. Find grace and gratitude in every moment." Wow. I got off the shuttle feeling renewed . . . and also reminded of what is truly important in life. What a wonderful chance encounter ... (with an angel?)
