11.01.2022 A little poem that I wrote because like many my heart is hurting over our beautiful home.... I can't sleep tonight, I can still smell smoke in the air. This came with warning but thus far, these fires have not been tamed. We pack our things and store them tight,... And head for shelter from this burning sight. "You will be out of harm's way," the politicians told us. "Free from the fire." But as the fires grew, it followed us and now we are in its way. All night we pray to see the blue sky, to finally see the light of day. As the fires grow stronger. The skies are turning red. Our home and cherished memories are now turning to ash. As we sit by the beach side and watch the rain fall. We pray this healing water will wash away this fire once and for all. This fire keeps itself light. fire fighters and volunteers are fighting a big fight. Some have given their last breath to protect us from this horrific sight. All through the night and into the early morning, We pray for a miracle for our beautiful land. When we wake to see more damage that has been done. Even though many have lost so much we know that love is pure and that valuables can be replaced and homes can be repaired. One day hopefully soon we will hear positive news and we can go about our lives, picking up the pieces,Trying to make sense of the madness and all that it seized. But throughout all the chaos brought strangers together. Despite their own frustration came a need to take care of each other.
