25.01.2022 The Fernvale endurance ride weekend was an outstanding success for the Splendacrest Team! There's been a group of excited young riders training at Splendacrest... since late last year, in the hope of starting their endurance riding career in 2020. Well.... that didn't eventuate due to world class problems, so these eager young riders have been dreaming of the day that they could start competing for a L O N G time now! And this was the time! The opportunity to attend a good ride, at a great ride base, with the fabulous reliable horses that they've been training on, and to complete not one, but two, 40km rides! So early Saturday morning the Splendacrest Team arrived at Fernvale, and were immediately into it! The 40km ride commenced at 10.30am, and went into the heat of the day, but the riders were all so excited that the conditions really didn't bother them much. The horses were also very well primed to complete which, of course, they did easily. New riders Bella on Emma, Indra on Merlin, Neeve on Thomas, and Mary on Teddy, were ably guided around the 40km by Emily on a new young horse Maverick, and Adi on a new older horse Airlie. All finished the day with big smiles and lots of hugs! The completion prize of an Endurance Journal developed and sponsored by Flik Equestrian was possibly the BEST ever prize for this level of rider!! I'm also very pleased to report that both Sam and Joey Long completed the 80km ride, with thanks to the Toft team, and the Rushoz team. Sunday morning dawned cold and clear, and these hardy youngsters set off again, this time accompanied by another young-at-heart "newbie", Sue, on the fabulous Zafire. Experienced riders Joey and Charlotte guided the group around, and brought everyone home safe, happy and healthy. And there was much celebration when everyone successfully passed the final Vet check! I was personally thrilled to welcome some special visitors into the Splendacrest camp over the weekend.... it was great to see parents, grandparents and relatives enjoying watching our sport happen! Thank you all for being a part of our successful event, and thanks for your company, food, and the photos! A HUGE thank you must go to our wonderful team of strappers, capably led by Evie. Tilly, Charlotte, Sam, Mog, Adi, Emily, Ben, Charlize, Molly.... have I forgotten anyone?? You all did a great job in ensuring that the team was successful, and your efforts are greatly appreciated always. Thank you also to my partner Dave, who assisted with the transportation of 7 horses to the ride, and also to Jess, Shazzy, Teddy and Marie, who took care of things at home while I was away. Thanks also to the families of our team members who make sure that these young riders can participate in a sport that will give them the best horsey education.... and for the goodies that you pack! My horses do well due to the professional help from a few special people as well: Sarah Summers, the best equine bodyworker around, Nathan Kerrison, a fabulous, reliable, and helpful farrier, and KFC Produce, who are also very helpful and easy to deal with. Congratulations to the Fernvale Club committee, volunteers, Vets, and supporters for running a large, successful event in these worrying times. What a treat it was to be back at an endurance ride! Thank you all.

19.01.2022 SPLENDACREST SQUAD Splendacrest Stables has been training young (and not-so-young) riders for 20 years in the sport of Endurance Riding. During this time many ...of these riders have gone on to do extremely well in the sport, as well as then diversifying into other equine pursuits! The current Splendacrest Squad consists of 12 young riders plus 1 adult rider, all of whom are qualified to do 80km rides, with 6 Novice Riders and 7 Open Riders. Obviously I can't transport 13 horses to each endurance event, so over the years we've built up a great relationship with other trainers and owners, which benefits everyone! I'd like to thank all those endurance folk who have allowed the Splendacrest Squad members to ride their horses over the years, and I'm sure that you have all been very happy with the results! So, to everyone out there: If you need a competent, confident, caring and careful young rider for any of the upcoming endurance rides in Queensland, consider "adopting" one of the splendid Splendacrest Squad! There are currently riders available for Charleville, Biggenden, State Champs, and Sparkler rides.... and they would LOVE to be adopted by you!

17.01.2022 What a weekend! The Splendacrest Team excelled at the Bremervale Justice Endurance Ride at Bony Mt. We took 12 horses, and fielded 13 riders, for a total of 120...0km (745 miles), with perfect scores all round, except for only one little hitch. I am very proud of Junior Squad members Matilda, Bella, Neeve, Indra, and Mary (with thanks to Kaylea), who achieved 100% completions! Our fabulous Senior Squad members Adi, Sam, Joey, Emily, Evie, Mog, and Charlotte all worked very hard to ensure a successful weekend, and certainly put in the miles on their horses. Thank you to every one of you for being great role models and team players. Special guest Susan also had a fun ride, gaining perfect scores and achieving a great time on Zafire. Of course results like these are only due to the effort and assistance given by a large cast of characters, including Caitlin, Sharon, Brent, Sharon, Georgia, Evie, my wonderful partner David, and the catering expertise of Roberta, Christine, Colleen, Natalie, Tilly's Grandma, Cath and Amanda. Thanks to all of you!! A special thanks also to Jessica and Roberta for your invaluable assistance at home. The Team would not be able to achieve these results without some very special assistance: our farrier Nathan, our equine bodyworker Sarah, and our feed suppliers KFC Produce and Allora Downs Hay. The ride was well run, well supported, and well worth attending. Thank you to the ride organisers, the volunteers, the Vets, and all attendees for making the weekend a great one!!
