20.01.2022 The Little Shop of Bliss was a boutique gift store located in the beautiful township of Angaston. The director had fallen in love with a gorgeous wallpaper in a little French café on her European travels and wanted a brand that reminded her of it. Using that wallpaper as inspiration I created this simple and elegant brand. The sans-serif font reflected the clean and simple lines of the ‘Scandinavian’ inspired origins of The Little Shop of Bliss, whilst the beautiful ‘Bliss’ text conveyed the elegance of the items found in the store. The hand drawn flowers alluded to the ‘hand made’ quality of the products and when teamed with the logo they gave a indulgent and dignified visual effect. https://splitpants.com.au/portfol/the-little-shop-of-bliss/
20.01.2022 A few years ago now, I had the pleasure of working with Tania Shirgwin of bizeez communications, to create their brand. bizeez communications supports and trains the food, wine and tourism industries in digital marketing. The concept of the logo is ‘knowledge transfer’. The icon is made up of speech and thought bubbles, to show that by speaking, bizeez transfers knowledge to their customers. Where the symbols overlap they create a richer blue showing that the combination of ...bizeez advice and customer knowledge leads to a rich strategy for business growth. The lowercase san-serif typeface suggests stability, unbiased, friendly and the approachable service they are offering. The speech bubble and ‘biz’ are green to indicate that bizeez does the speaking, whilst the thought bubble and ‘eez’ are purple to suggest that the customers thoughts about their business will be at ease due to bizeez’s advice. The use of the colour green suggests calmness, health, freshness and serentity, whilst the purple suggests wisdom and creativity and is often used in education. 20.01.2022 In 2016, I had the pleasure of working with Grant Hermann from Lime Solutions to create the Lime Solutions brand. Lime Solutions specialises in the delivery of Defence Services especially relating to aircraft capabilities, intelligence surveillance and electronic warfare. The Lime Solutions team have strong egineering backgrounds and provide tailored approaches to problem solving. They needed a brand that reflected their mission and values and which spoke to their audience of... defence, government, engineering and logistics. This icon is based around the idea of simplifying complexity, which is the tagline adopted. The icon begins complex with the three lines representing each of the partners overlapping and intertwining, just as each of the partners roles when employed separately overlap and cross-over to achieve tailored solutions for their customers. Through employing Lime Solutions, the process is simplified, the three lines come out of the complex problem working along side each other towards a common goal. The darker blue was chosen to give a sense of strength and professionalism and appeals to the 50+ male audience. The teal is a complimentary and the lime alludes to the company name. 3 colours have been used to represent the founding partners. 18.01.2022 @madec.aus is a successful not for profit charitable organisation, that provides relief to people experiencing poverty or distress, by offering a range of educational opportunities to help them get back into the workforce. The brief was to create an easy to read course guide to inform prospective students of the available courses and encourage enrolment. Working with Renee from @renee.roarmarketing I created this simple to understand and visually pleasing guide which reflect...s the bright and colourful future the courses are offering willing students. 17.01.2022 South Coast Funerals are a family owned business located on the South Coast of South Australia. They needed a new brand that reflected the compassion, care and dignity that they offer those who have lost loved ones. As I designed this brand I wanted to convey the feeling of peace that someone might have as they sit on the beach remembering their loved one, being comforted by the breeze in the dune grass and the sound of the sea. The beach, a prominent feature of the South Coa...st, is a place you can clear your thoughts and find hope for the future. The gently swaying dune grass in the logo creates a forward motion, whilst the circle, represent the ‘circle’ or ‘completion’ of life. ‘Funeral’ has been rendered in an old typeface to give the feeling of an ‘established’ and ‘trusted’ friend, with the hand written script of ‘South coast’ adding warmth and friendliness to the logo. https://splitpants.com.au/portfolio/south-coast-funerals-2/
14.01.2022 Yep... that's my kids... especially with the finger up the nose!
13.01.2022 Once again it was a pleasure to work with Sami Glastonbury of Blanche Box on the brand asset package for EPSOM Centre. In creating this logo we wanted an Icon that was fresh clean and simple, reflecting the relaxed and healing waters of the EPSOM Spa tanks. The icon droplet contains the shape of a lotus flower which represents a person in restful state, in the yoga lotus position to suggest a sense of balance and calm. This open and simple logo is refreshing and clean like the service that EPSOM offer their clients. http://splitpants.com.au/2020/11/04/epsom-centre/
12.01.2022 Once again it was a pleasure to work with Simon Crase on the Hume Riverina Community Legal Service’s Annual Report.
11.01.2022 Insight Magazine is a seasonal magazine published by @lifeflow.meditation I was asked to produce a minimalistic and clean magazine that would promote wellness and invite Lifeflow members to be inspired in their life and wellbeing. The result was this elegant and simple magazine.... Initially the magazine was published as a print edition, but during the time of Covid it became a digital publication distributed to members of Lifeflow Meditation online. https://splitpants.com.au/portfolio/insight-magazine/
10.01.2022 I was thinking about this the other day when this quote graced my feed. I think I actually am happiest when I'm creating. I just love building and creating beautiful pictures, images and brands; wether it be corporate logos, painting in my art studio, or building art lessons for my homeschool friends... I just LOVE to create! www.splitpants.com.au
09.01.2022 History.... I love it... its also a life saver for designers www.splitpants.com.au
09.01.2022 Every designer knows the phrase "KISS" ... but I like the addition of significant. A design is finished when you can't take anything away, but make sure what you leave behind is significant... does it add to the design? ... love this one. I propose a new acronym... K...eep I...t S...simple but... S...significant www.splitpants.com.au
06.01.2022 I enjoyed working with Tracey from @bonchevon to create their new brand. Located in the Barossa Valley, Bon Chevon produce premium quality goat meat on their beautiful property and needed a brand that reflected the fresh and home grown nature of their family business. I created the logo to have a classic feel to appeal to the homey, wholesome nature of the brand, whilst giving the brand a sense of freshness and gourmet quality. I chosen to use a silouette of the goat in a ‘pr...oud’ upright stance to suggest pride in the quality of the product. The font is an old typeface to give the logo a sense of ‘establishment’, and to allude to the traditional and homey style of ‘grandmas’ cooking. For the tag line I used a loose script font to make the logo friendly and ‘homemade’. The logo works well in black, and gives the brand flexibility in application and can work well with an earthy colour palette. 06.01.2022 It is always a pleasure to work with Renee Ancell from Roar Marketing, and creating this invitation for an exclusive event hosted by Load 28 was no exception. The event was to celebrate the Launch of their LIebherr 230 Tonne crane; the only crane of its type in South Australia. Each attendee received their invitation on a bottle of 2015 Il Capo Black Label Shiraz. http://splitpants.com.au//02/load-28-invitations-gift-tags/
