24.01.2022 The City is presenting a Youth Mental Health First Aid Course in partnership with Helping Minds on Tuesday 12 and Wednesday 13 November 2019. This two-day cour...se teaches adults who have frequent contact with young people aged 12-24, such as parents, guardians, coaches, youth workers and school staff, how to assist should the person be developing or experiencing a mental health problem. Bookings are essential and places are limited. To book please call us on 9528 0333 or email [email protected] Please note that full attendance is required over the two days. This course is only open for City of Rockingham residents or those working with young people in the area.

We are firing up Alternatives to Suicide group again now called "speak up" (alternatives to Suicide)and are blessed to also have a new co- facilitator Elizabeth and our other co facilitator Patricia will pop in when she can as we will miss her too much. Totally a win/win with these beautiful people. So, the plan is its not next week but the week after. Wed morning 27th June 11am - 12.30pm At the bridge restaurant in the VIP room up the back.... We are excited to be during the day so no dark rainy nights. Also just have change for nibbles if u want and awesome coffees so loving this venue! So Mark the 27th June 11am we are brunching, connecting, and making quality authentic friends to journey with us in life and of course a good a laugh along the way.

05.01.2022 Free weekly tai chi and yoga classes are starting soon as part of the City’s Summer Series. Tai chi classes will be run by Peter Balde from Mace Energy Method e...very Tuesday morning from 7am8am at the Beach Bowl, Rockingham Foreshore. The first class is on Tuesday 5 November, and the last class is Tuesday 24 March. Yoga classes will be run by Soul Coast Yoga every Thursday evening from 6pm7pm at the Beach Bowl, Rockingham Foreshore. The first class is Thursday 7 November and the last class is Thursday 26 March. The classes start in November and run all the way through to March 2020. No classes will be held over the two week Christmas and New Year period. Both classes are suitable for all ages and skills levels no experience necessary. BYO towel and yoga mat. No registration required, these are drop-in style classes.

01.01.2022 To our Community Members and Community Champions we are seeking your feedback on the draft Western Australian Suicide Prevention Action Plan 2021-2025 (Suicide ...Prevention Action Plan 2025). As you may be aware, the current state-wide suicide prevention strategy, Suicide Prevention 2020: Together we can save lives, will conclude December 2020. The Mental Health Commission is working on the next strategy titled, the Suicide Prevention Action Plan 2025, and is inviting individual, group, and organisational stakeholders to provide comment about key elements of the plan to inform its further development. The Minister for Mental Health will release the draft Suicide Prevention Action Plan 2025 today (Wednesday 9 October 2019), for a two-week public comment period. All stakeholders are invited to contribute; particularly those people who have lived experience of suicide and suicide bereavement, whose knowledge and input we recognise as being integral to suicide prevention in Western Australia. Suicide is an issue that touches many lives across our communities, and it is recognised that some people providing feedback may be personally impacted, and could experience strong emotional reactions. The following services may be useful if you need to talk with someone or need extra support after completing the survey: Lifeline : 13 11 14 Suicide Callback Service : 1300 659 467 Providing Feedback If you would like to provide feedback on the draft Suicide Prevention Action Plan 2025, visit www.mhc.wa.gov.au to download a copy and provide comment through the survey link below.
