22.01.2022 OCTOBER MERRY MEET CANCELLED Friends and supporters, I regret to inform you that this Saturday's show is cancelled, and sorry about the late notice. I've had some severe health problems the last couple of months that have interfered with operations, and am currently unable to run the gig. My apologies to all, but I have to proritise my health and wellbeing. To those who have shared posts about the event - and thank you for that - may I ask you to share this one, please? Cheers, and wish me well, as I do you. Archie.

17.01.2022 OH, COME ALL YE FAITHFULOCTOBER MERRY MEET Greetings, all; we’re back on track this month after some recent disruptions for which I again apologise. I’m really hoping you can come this Saturday as our special guest is the Australian performance poetry legend Tug Dumbly, who’s worth travelling a long way to see. He absolutely changed the way I performed after seeing him at the Nimbin Performance Poetry World Cup years ago. Tug's won 3 Cupsnobody else has won more than one, s...o he stands head and shoulders above the rest. He’s also won 2 Banjo Patterson Prizes for comic verse, the Woodford Festival Storytelling Award, has appeared at every Australian festival worth mentioning, and was runner-up in the prestigious Josephine Ulrick Poetry Prize in 2015. These are just a few of his accolades. I’ve attached a poster for you, and really hope you can make it on Saturday. See more

17.01.2022 PUBLIC APOLOGY TO SARAH FROM HOMEGROWN CAFE, PALMWOODS Greetings again. I wish to correct an implication in a previous post that Sarah from Homegrown Cafe had some responsibility for the cancellation of this Saturday's Sunshine Coast Spoken Word event. I want to confirm that Sarah notified me on Monday that the cafe had been double booked on our usual date. Sarah very generously offered to book a nearby venue and cover the cost, but, as I was under a severe health cloud at the time, I was unsure whether I was up to the gig this month and eventually cancelled. My deepest apologies to you, Sarah, and I'll make it up with your forgiveness. With regret, Archie.

12.01.2022 Revisit my old Nimbin friends and past feature guests Possum and Tango (Teresa Biscoe and Janie Treasure) showing how fantastic poetry duets can be. Enjoy.

12.01.2022 A TASTE OF TUG Tug Dumbly was our feature in 2013, and here's one of his classic performance pieces. Come and see him this Saturday, October 19, 2pm at Homegrown Cafe, Palmwoods. He's a genius on stage or page. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-IMAvE3-hm4

09.01.2022 Our good friend, Vincent Stead, featuring at the Dust Temple and Alternator Poetry. Great to see him getting the recognition he's worked so hard to earn. Thoroughly deserved, mate. We love you here at SCSW.

07.01.2022 How's this for a world class poetryperson? And it's FREE! Read the posterand it's straight after my sold-out workshop at USC so I'll be there.

06.01.2022 This from our mate, Vincent Stead about the Nimbin Performance Poetry World Cup, won by the phenomenal Loki Liddle - who featured at our gig in recent months - and big wraps to our own Kate Barker, who made the final (two years in a row now) in a very hot field. Your time will come, Kate.

06.01.2022 HEAT 1, SOLBAR MAROOCHYDORE, TOMORROW (MONDAY) NIGHT 6pm-9pm See you there.

03.01.2022 This coming Saturday, October 5 sees the incomparable Ian Mackay hosting a lovely annual gig at the Kenilworth Showgrounds as part of Kenilworth ArtsFest. It's great fun and always an excellent crowd, plus some open mic and special guests. Only $5 to enter. Here's a poster.

02.01.2022 Big shout out to Brendan O'Shea, The Mindfulness Poet, for hosting the event yesterday. The reviews in the morning dailies were excellent and the word of mouth brilliant. Thanks, Brendan.

01.01.2022 Check it out - Sarah Temporal is brilliant. She won the 2018 Nimbin Performance Poetry World Cup and is in the NSW final of the Australian Poetry Slam next Saturday night. We wish her luck.

01.01.2022 SEPTEMBER MERRY MEET CANCELLED! Greetings, all; it is with a heavy heart that I notify you that this Saturday’s Merry Meet is cancelled. There is a wedding reception in the garden at 4pm and the band is sound checking from 3pm, so that just ain’t gonna work with spoken word. Sarah from Homegrown notified me on Monday and very generously offered to book and pay another venue nearby. Owing to continuing problems with health, I didn’t feel up to a venue change and have therefore... given the event, and myself, a rest this month. SO, my deepest apologies, and to make up for it, next month we have as our feature the incomparable Tug Dumbly from Sydney, performance poet extraordinaire, one of the funniest and most brilliant wordsmiths I’ve seen in my travels, and an utter legend in performance poetry in this country. Please come on Saturday, October 19th and be superbly entertained. More on Tug shortly. Cheers, Archie See more
