23.01.2022 As I made my way through the Hobart CBD on this wet Friday morning it was great to see so many committed cycling commuters doing the right thing with hi-vis jackets and vest and good tail lights. If you have to ride in the rain, be safe! Have a good weekend and if you need to warm up, come and have a coffee at Spokes.

18.01.2022 The Spokes Café Strava club is off and rolling. www.strava.com/clubs/127658 At the top of last weeks’ leader board was Melos who rounded out his week with a great 152km solo effort. Melos is in training for the Tour de Cure in April so we can expect to see a few more big weeks from him. Once we have a few more members in the Spokes Cafe club we will start holding monthly challenges with prizes from Avantiplus Hobart for the winning riders. The challenges might be for total mo...nthly km’s, fastest time a on chosen segment or most meters climbed. So, if you haven’t signed up yet, what are you waiting for? And if you have, spread the word. Like and Share this post. The more the merrier. And don’t forget to drop into Spokes Café for a coffee. While you’re there, check out Kaylyn’s awesome savoury muffins or the gluten free Choc Walnut Brownies.

08.01.2022 What is Strava? Strava (www.strava.com) lets you track your rides via your iPhone, Android or dedicated GPS device (like the Garmin Edge available from Avantiplus Hobart) and helps you analyse and quantify your performance. Strava provides motivation and camaraderie, allowing friends to push each other with kudos and comments. Strava calls it social fitness. And Strava is free to use! Join the Spokes Café Strava Club - www.strava.com/clubs/127658 - and meet others that share your passion for cycling. Alone or together, we strive.

04.01.2022 The weather is clearing and it should be good for our 12.30 social ride today. This ride is great for beginners and Myra will give you some pointers on bunch ride etiquette along the way. Riding with a group can be great for motivation, will improve your fitness and is much more fun than riding on your own. However there are a few basic skills you need to keep it fun and safe. The best way to learn these skills is to join a group with people that will teach you the do's and don'ts of bunch riding. So, join Myra today at 12.30 from Spokes Cafe for an easy and relaxed 1 hour ride.
