17.01.2022 Sometimes we may have a tendency to ask questions after questions to our child with the intention to help them learn words or talk. Asking questions too frequently can create pressure for our child and it may even deter them to communicate with us. It also reduces the opportunity for them to actually talk. It is alright to ask the right questions to them, but not too frequently. It is important to also add comments, or modelling language to them in our conversations. Simply ...enjoying talking with our child about various topics and allow them enough time to respond will motivate them to talk and engage with us more. #spokleapp #speechlanguagetherapist #speechlanguagepathologist #speechtherapy #speechtherapyideas #speechtherapyathome #parenting #earlychildhoodeducation #parentinghack #avt #autism #asd #hearingloss #family #parentingtips #ThursdayTips

17.01.2022 Play is important in children’s development. Child-directed play is when children choose what to play and make up their own rules on how to play. This particular type of play is critical to a child’s learning and well-being. Self-directed play paves it for children to think, choose, imagine, and be creative and original. Guided play is important as well. Guided play is an enabler and allows children to spend focused and quality time with adults. The interaction during an act...ivity together is to provide children with explanations and assistance in understanding concepts and developing skills related to the topic or activity related to play. However, it is not to take over from the child. Both types of play are important and necessary for children’s development. 05.01.2022 Babbling is an important milestone for babies to reach before they are able to say real words. It is a building block for language development. Babbling is when your baby making sounds of strung-together consonant-vowel sounds like "a-ga" or "a-da" and develop into canonical babbling like "baba" or "dada". This will eventually leads to real words. How do we encourage babbling in babies?... 1. Get down to your child's level and make sure he can see your face and mouth. 2. Model babbling first to your baby like "mamama" or "dadada" 3. Stop, Look, Listen for a response, maybe he will make some sounds back to you 4. Acknowledge him if he does respond by repeating what he said, i.e. babble back to your baby! Your child will start to understand imitation and turn-taking. It's also fun and motivating when you respond back to him 5. You can also try babbling to form a word, for example saying "ba ba ba ball!" and show him a ball. 6. Use an exaggerated and higher pitched voice. Research has shown this to be more effective as it keeps their attention to you. Have fun babbling with your baby! #spokleapp #speechlanguagetherapist #speechlanguagepathologist #speechtherapy #speechtherapyideas #speechtherapyathome #parenting #earlychildhoodeducation #parentinghack #avt #autism #asd #hearingloss #family #parentingtips #tuesdaytips

03.01.2022 Talking at your child's level: When speaking to your child, it is important to speak at their level. What this means is, you may get down on your knees or lower your body so they can see your face and your gestures. While doing this, you can copy their actions & use language that they understand. Refrain from speaking complicated language that they do not know. This is a way to communicate positively with your children. This helps them to develop confidence, feelings of self...-worth as they get your full attention and builds better connection with you. This is a way of showing them that they are important. #spokleapp #speechlanguagetherapist #speechlanguagepathologist #speechtherapy #speechtherapyideas #speechtherapyathome #parenting #earlychildhoodeducation #parentinghack #avt #autism #asd #hearingloss #family #parentingtips
