23.01.2022 Tuesday afternoon @ sport Mountain Bike Coaching Brisbane, Mark Watts The Yr 8 & Yr 9s enjoyed mountain biking in Scribbly this afternoon.... They where coached on Berms... How to enter them, to have you body in the ready position, how to steer with your hips, (with one of the boys saying oh great we can get rid of the handlebars!) the position your feet should be in and so much more. Hayden laid the cones out on the berm and asked the boys to ride in between. Mark asked Hayden Girvan to coach the boys, and what a mighty fine job he did! He was clear and concise and he certainly knew what he was talking about. Mark you are a terrific coach for these boys! Thank you.

21.01.2022 What an amazing day that our Football (soccer) players had today competing in the CSSAQ Football Carnival. All three teams competed well and showed the Redlands way, supporting each other and cheering each other on. Our senior team made up of grade 10, 11 & 12s competed in a yr11/12 Comp and placed second overall in their pool. They had a penalty shootout for the final win and the acrobatics from our goal keeper Adam Humphries gave us a 3-1 win!!... Our intermediate team made up of grade 8s and 10s due to camp for the 9s played well. They played in the 3rd and 4th playoff and finished strong with a 4-2 win giving them 3rd place out of the 6 schools competing. Finally our juniors from grade 7 & 8 fought hard and learnt a lot finishing with 2 close losses and 2 draws. All teams are looking forward to our next verture. Fantastic work boys!!

21.01.2022 Stradbroke Island Training Day with Bev Faulks Redlands College's Running and Athletics Coach Students attended: Anjali & Mia D'Souza, Ella & Charlotte Christensen, Ryland Frost, Chloe Bowen, Kare Herd, Felix Reji, Lacey & Jed Smith, Broc Smith, Emma Mossop, Jacob Bonavia, Shaniah & Jordan Ferguson and Brenna Singh.... Saturday past was an eventful day, the first of its kind where the above students attended a full day of beach activities on Straddie, incorporating a unique training regime of water activities, games and many other fun and exciting things. These students attend the morning and afternoon training sessions held at the College with Mrs Faulks. Bev Faulks explains: 'I hope everyone had as good a day as I did on Saturday. Thank you for being a great group of kids, it was a pleasure to spend a day of continuous exercise and fun with you all. For those who missed out on being there, and are wondering what we got up to; we caught the ferry at 7 am, caught a bus to Cylinder beach, went for a beach run along the water's edge to warm up then headed over to the very large and steep sandhill near Deadman's beach. After many slow runs up, and very fast runs down the hill, the legs were feeling it. After jumping and hopping competitions uphill we headed back to Cylinder beach for some well-earned sustenance. After water races, digging races, and one on one sprint races, it was time for some cooling off in the surf. The water was freezing but refreshing! Time for a break and some lunch. After lunch, a great and exhausting game of ultimate frisbee in the loose sand left everyone's feet a little sore, but so good to see everyone get involved and make it a great game. Still, some energy left so we had a tug of war across the water channel on the beach. Everybody was glad to get wet to cool off. Time for another swim. I think the water got even colder or maybe I'm getting old? Time for a break, any food anyone had left was devoured. The last activity was a water run and water sprints, friction on the feet was a little hard, but not too much whinging. Wow, the whole day went so quick - back to the ferry and arrived back at Cleveland at 4.30 pm. Can't wait to do it again! A big thank you to Mrs Tattersall for doing all the behind the scenes organising and paperwork and to Mr Oosterbeek for bringing some well-needed shelter, setting up and supervising.' Both the Adults and Students had a great time, but forgot to take photos! so Bev has given you an idea of the goings-on in her sketches!! Good one Bev! Thank you for having such a great idea to take our students on this journey!
