22.01.2022 15 years ago today, Canberra hosted the 5th INAS-FID Athletics World Championships. Opened by Governor-General Major Michael Jeffery, the Championships got off to a great start with Vaness Lutonto (The Netherlands) breaking the World Record in the first event, 100m hurdles. Australia fielded a large team of 22 athletes and won 3 Gold, 4 Silver and 8 Bronze medals. Canberra's Murray Goldfinch dominated the throws winning Gold in the men's shot put and discus events, while WA...'s Paul Mitchell collected Gold in the 10,000m and a Silver in the 5000m. If not for a fall with 110m to go in the 5000m Mitchell could have won two Gold medals also. That team included three athletes better known for their performances in other Sports, Kim Larkin OAM (Basketball), Brett Wilson (Basketball and Cricket) and Nathan Glarvey (Cycling). 06.01.2022 Did you know this week is social inclusion week? Sport Inclusion Australia (formerly Ausrapid) was founded on the basis of social inclusion using sport as the medium. It has stayed as one of our core beliefs. The slogan for this years Social Inclusion week is CONNECT, COLLABORATE & CELEBRATE. So for Today's throwback Thursday post, we will look back to 2004 and the Ausrapid / Vicrapid breakfast, an annual event bringing together staff who have worked for Ausrapid and or V...icsrapid over the years. The breakfast brings people together to connect, collaborate and celebrate. If our borders stay open we will all have a chance to connect and celebrate with friends and family over Christmas. Do you have another regular connection to friends and family that brings you together, we would like to hear about it. Could be that annual gathering for a sporting event? #SIW20

05.01.2022 The Victorian Government is putting together a Youth Strategy and is calling on the youth of Victoria to contribute sharing their stories and ideas using Tik Tok. My Vision for the future calls on young Victorians to take to the ‘green screen’ and use dress-up props to express their personal goals such as career, life or social causes.... A Day in my life calls on our young people to record their day with snapshots of ‘My People’, ‘My Commute’, ‘My Studies’, ‘My Work’ and ‘My Self-Care’ as some topic suggestions. So why not get to it and have your say to help shape the Victorian Youth Strategy through your own TikTok accounts and use the following hashtags #youryouthstrategy and #youthvisionforthefuture.
