23.01.2022 2019 Motostars Series done. Travelled to the Whitsunday Moto Sports Club at Proserpine and thanks goes out to everyone involved at the track, track was great an...d the complex was awesome, we will be back. Competed in 3 classes over the weekend, racing was hard, close and extremely competitive. Competition between all the riders is so close making it entertaining for not only the riders but everyone watching as well. Credit to Motostars for developing these riders and this series, junior road racing is stronger than ever thanks to Damian and Amy Cudlin. Thanks goes to Dudley and Blake Lister for letting me ride there Honda RS80. Being able to ride this bike from round 2 has been great, love this bike and have enjoyed racing on it in that class. 20.01.2022 Final round of Motostars 2019 done. Travelled over 2000km to compete at Whitsunday Moto Sports Club - motorcycles. Had a great weekend, rode hard against top co...mpetition. Unfortunately had a mechanical issue which resulted in a DNF for race 1 on my Kayo but thanks to Dad and with the help Damian and Shane (thanks heaps Shano) managed to get the bike back on the grid for race 2. Finished strongly on both bikes for the weekend. This being my first year of road racing, finishing 4th in the Australian Motostars Supermoto Championship and 5th in the Motostars junior Championship I couldn't be happier. Looking forward to 2020. 18.01.2022 Today was a better day thankfully at the MotoStars Supermoto and Junior Road Racing Championship. After qualifying and Race 1 yesterday I came out today with 2 ...goals .... stay upright and enjoy the last nationals round. Race 2 and 3 on the road bike I had good starts and got into P7 which I maintained for both races putting me in 8th overall for the weekend. Stoked to be top 10 after crashing out yesterday. Supermoto race 2 I again had a great start and pushing hard I had some chatter in the front and slid out. Finishing in P5. Race 3 after a front tyre change I had a consistent ride in 4th with a lunge at 3rd place down the straight. I missed it by a hair. This put me 4th overall for the weekend but Im so excited to have come away as 3rd in the Australian Junior Lites Championship. Its been a huge year with so many people to thank. She loves her motorcycle racing, the fact she bounces back after injury is a true testiment to her strength, perseverance and love for the sport. 18.01.2022 MotoStars is a rider development series and rider coaching headed by Damian and Amy Cudlin. Put simply, it produces result by identifying talent and nurturing young riders into champions! Throw in an Australian SuperMotard championship and what a complete series it has become. Bravo Bravo to all involved. The 2019 season finale was held 24-25 November 2019 in Proserpine Nth Queensland. Competitors travelled from far and wide to make the last event of the year a huge success. It was well supported by a honour role of eager sponsors that see huge value and potential, not only in the sport, but also the Cudlin's vision. Congratulations to all involved. 09.01.2022 ********** BREAKING NEWS ********** TEAM JEKYL+HYDE MOTO / PTT LUBRICANTS / HATCH RACING TEAM - NAME THEIR SECOND RIDER FOR 2020 ASBK ASSAULT. _____________________________________________... We are excited to announce North Queensland teen, Cody Van Bergen from Airlie Beach as Team JEKYL+HYDE MOTO / PTT Lubricants / HRT second rider for 2020. Van Bergen comes into the J+H team as the 2020 surprise package. The little known 16yr old having never ridden in the ASBK series previously and will be considered a relative newcomer to the the national scene. Cody is not exactly a newcomer to racing, winning the QLD short course championship in 2017 as a 13yr old, and racing both the Dunlop Super Series in 2018/2019 on a Yamaha R3, plus stints in FX series. In 2019 he won the Dunlop Super Series championship with a round to spare, giving him his first senior title. Cody has also been performing duties as a Dunlop test pilot for the Yamaha R3 under the mentoring and guidance of Superbike stalwart, Robbie Bugden. The 16yr old has been consistently improving, testing himself against current ASBK SS300 / R3 Cup contenders and believes now is the right time to contest the ASBK Championship. His recent lap times at QLDs Lakeside and QR circuits would suggest he is spot on the money. Cody understands the enormity of this next challenge, he'll have to learn and absorb fast, learning 6 new circuits, racing against highly professional outfits/riders on the biggest stage in Australia... but he is ready. Cody joins the JEKYL+HYDE MOTO cru, in doing so, allows SPORT SAVVY AUSTRALIA the opportunity to continue to unearth another raw gem and assist another outstanding young, relatively unknown athlete, onto the big stage. Cody comes into the team with plenty of personal support and backing, dad Ben and uncle, Peter (mechanic) will be close by at all times. Van Bergen will enter the ASBK in 2020 for JEKYL+HYDE MOTO/PTT Lubricants/Hatch Racing Team and will team up with the teams other 2019 revelation, Jacob Hatch. Both boys are already familiar with each other and their information sharing is paramount and crucial towards championship success. Both Van Bergen and Hatch will be riding their preferred Yamaha R3 race bikes throughout the season, which will give Cody double the opportunity to learn the tracks and become familiar. Cody's maturity and relaxed nature should hold him in good stead. He is experienced infront of the camera and this attribute will most definitely come in handy, post race, throughout 2020. These bikes are next level and only recently imported into Australia by our good friends at Kraemer Motorcycles Australia. 125kg 690cc KTM singles. Think Moto3 performance. Kraemer has enlisted the services of Superbike rider Aaron Morris to help shake the bike down and have it set up for the Aussie track scene. 1:39 at SMSP on first ride is not too shabby!... Everybody in the motorsport game knows Aaron is a quality racer and his feedback is second to none... plus he reliably brings the bike home again and again. 06.01.2022 Cam had a fantastic weekend up in the Whitsundays for the last round of the Australian Junior Road Racing Championships, finishing 2nd in all of his R15 races a...nd 2nd in all of his Junior Kayo races. Cam finished the Junior Kayo championship in overall 2nd place for the year. Many thanks to Paul Neale for the loan of the Kayo for the weekend. 05.01.2022 **********Announcement ********** Team JEKYL+HYDE / PTT Lubricants / HATCH Racing confirm Helite Australia as the official Airbag Technology Expert partner beyond 2020. In an Australian Exclusive deal, Helite Airbag Systems will now be fitted to JEKYL AND HYDE MOTO premium racesuits, as worn by riders JACOB HATCH and CODY VAN BERGEN during the 2020 ASBK season. ... The long term partnership cements JEKYL AND HYDE MOTO as a 'proper' safety option when selecting a racesuit on the Australia market. "We take our riders and customers safety seriously" said Terry Carroll, owner of JEKYL AND HYDE MOTO. He also explained, "Last year we had an opportunity to provide support to a talented Aussie rider who was racing Internationally. Unfortunately, it never got off the ground because the rider required an airbag fitted suit to race in FIM sanctioned races. For us, it was a missed opportunity to not only support the racer with suits but also to protect the rider with the very best technology. 03.01.2022 The downs and ups of Motorsport Firstly, BIG shout out to Jacob Hatch #99 - HRT / PTT LUBRICANTS / JEKYL+HYDE / MOTOCITY TEAM. Qualifying for SS300 was delayed for almost 1 hour this afternoon due to oil on track from a previous incident. As soon as pit lane opened Jacob went to work, qualifying in P2 and was the quickest Yamaha R3 for round 1 of the 2020 ASBK series at Phillip Island this weekend. Goooooooo Hatchy!!!... But it wasn't completely without incident. In attempting to improve on his P2 position, Jacob and another rider made contact causing Jacob to fall heavily at the fast T2 left hander. BIG thanks to our team partner Helite Airbag Systems Australia for the GP Air vest airbag system that saved Jacob during qualifying. Our rider may have been down, but no physical damage thanks to the HELITE Airbag System... which deployed beautifully, protecting our rider. Jacob was able to remount, with the Helite Airbag slowly deflating on the way back to the pits. A quick inspection located no damage to rider or Helite Airbag System, which only requires a quick reset and new CO cartridge in the morning and Jacob will be ready to go head-to-head in race one tomorrow. ***Please make contact with our HRT / PTT LUBRICANTS / JEKYL+HYDE / MOTOCITY race team for more information on how The HELITE Airbag System can protect your rider*** Keegan Pickering #22 - is back on track in her Aqua JEKYL+HYDE racesuit and Yamaha R3 race prep weapon. Keegans return to the bitumen, after a serious off at The Bend 2019, is welcomed and long overdue, and will see her regain her love and feel for the famous Phillip Island circuit. Clocking a very steady 1.55 in qualifying will see her fighting for position from start to finish... something Keegan knows all too well. Look for Keegan to move well forward during the racing. Cody Van Bergen #98 leaves Phillip Island circuit 2020 early with a broken collarbone after a heavy impact on turn 9 at Lukey Heights on day one of practice. The HRT / PTT Lubricants / JEKYL+HYDE / MOTOCITY team rider experienced a baptism of fire in the first practice session. He was gradually building speed lap after lap when the rear broke away over the famous crest, sliding towards the grass and then digging in and pitching the debutant rider 'highside style' onto his right causing injury. Cody sought immediate medial attention on track which confirmed the injury. Cody has returned home to Nth Queensland to seek surgery and we all wish him a speedy and successful recovery. It's a massive shame for the sport, extended crews, supporters, spectators, trade exhibitors, hospitality as well as loss of investment to the wider community. A shame, but understandable in the circumstances. Hopefully, ASBK is able to secure additional coverage to keep the fans, sponsors, etc... engaged!
