10.01.2022 Had the pleasure of facilitating a fun, thought-provoking, and interactive workshop with a group of passionate and interested water polo coaches this morning on: The Roadmap to Success: Values-Driven Coaching. The workshop was a first in a series of seminars designed to promote Coaching with the Brain in Mind and encourage coaches to develop effective strategies for peak performance. Thank you to all who attended, participated, and shared their story. When we ta...ke the time to reflect on what is important to us and why we do what we do, we develop a greater understanding of the type of leader/coach we want to be and allows us to choose and commit to actions that are in line with our values. Valued-action leads to need fulfilment, enjoyment, and enhanced performance. Big thanks to Water Polo Queensland for inviting me to be involved! Looking forward to seeing you all at the next one in 2019! 03.01.2022 Congratulations to two of our SPQ Team Members who competed in the Mooloolaba Mile 1.6km Ocean Swim this morning. Chelsea and Gemma performed to their best on the day and earned some great results: Chelsea - 21:00.8 = 1st in age group, 23rd fastest female, 49th fastest overall (out of 314 participants) Gemma - 21:58.7 = 4th in age group, 37th fastest female, 80th fastest overall (out of 314 participants) ... Some of the mental skills and strategies Chelsea and Gemma used to get in the zone and perform to their best included: 20min walk to the beach to move the body, take in some fresh air, and engage routine to prepare for event. 02.01.2022 It's hard enough being a parent, let alone a parent of an athlete. The Sport Psych Qld team are here to support you on this journey. Here are some great tips.

02.01.2022 "Say NO to false positivity" - Susan David How often have you heard someone say to you or have you said to yourself.. "just be positive!"? We as a society have created the misconception that we will only experience meaning and purpose in our lives if we actively try to block out, push aside, or get rid of so-called "negative" emotions (i.e., commonly perceived as anger, frustration, grief, sadness, disappointment, rejection and so on). When we do, we struggle to develop the c...apacity to deal with the challenges life throws at us. What if we were to tell you theres no such thing as "positive vs. negative" or "good vs. bad" emotion? Instead, there is just normal, natural emotion... and that emotion is inherently valuable to understanding how we function as human beings. As Susan David says, "Tough emotions are part of our contract with life... you dont get to have a meaningful career, or raise a family, or leave the world a better place without stress and discomfort." At Sport Psych Qld, we encourage people (athletes, coaches, students, parents, teams, organisations) to lean in and embrace their emotion in order to thrive and perform at their best. By experiencing the full range of human emotion we learn to accept who we are and how we function as people. By having the courage to embrace being "comfortable with feeling uncomfortable" we open ourselves up to opportunities that lead us to reaching our ultimate potential in sport and life. If youd like to learn how you can say NO to false positivity, be the person/athlete/performer/coach/student/parent you want to be, and create a fulfilling, meaningful, and purposeful life, head to our website www.sportpsychqld.com.au and book an appointment now! #realtalk #performancepotential #emotionalagility #resilience #ownyouremotions #valuedliving #shiftthestigma #selfcompassion #acceptance #enhancewellbeing #bethedifference #thriving
