24.01.2022 SPORTS KARATE AUSTRALIA UPDATE

24.01.2022 Kyoshi Rene and Sensei Paris Botella have all completed their "Covid Safe Sports Coach Course" today, congratulations this will help us care for our students diligently.

23.01.2022 GO TO Sports Karate Australia Online For our live stream and video classes and ask to be added. This afternoon we will live stream a class from the Dojo at 5 pm. It will go for about 30 to 40 minutes. It is focused for White to blues belts, so will include a warmup and a short 1 minute water break twice during the class.... At 6pm we will do a class for Red to Black belts. Again for about 30 to 40 minutes, however we would like you Warm Up yourselves as senior grades. If you are not comfortable a warmup is there for you from yesterday. As per the suggestions, sound was difficult to hear, due to background noise. It was suggested that one person at the camera talks, while the other demonstrates. A second suggestion was that Paris was better looking than I am. So we have taken both on board. Today, Paris will demonstrate and I will narrate. Until we get a mic at least. These classes will be saved, if you cant view at this time and for you to practice tomorrow. In addition please understand this is a work in progress, Aspen is going to help me set up files for video categories this afternoon which will be very helpful. When we get set up properly we can redo the early videos if necessary. Your suggestions and feedback help us provide what we need. Regards Kyoshi

20.01.2022 I had the privilege of Coaching two girls from Toowoomba yesterday, my good friend Mike Jordan Shihan unable to attend, asked me to assist his athletes. Both girls responded well to my input, Scarlet receiving Medal a Bronze and Alex (pictured) a Bronze in the Kyu and then a Gold in the Blackbelts. In the Blackbelts, after analysing her performance and making an appropriate plan Alex beat the girl who won the kyus, and went on to win the division.... Congratulations Mike two fine, strong young competitors, both a credit to you and an honour to coach.

14.01.2022 As advised to many in the weekend, we anticipated an opportunity to take small class in public spaces. Understanding that there was a lot of grey areas, we sought clarification from our Authorised State Body, who sought further advice from the Queensland State Government Sports Body. Unfortunately we can not hold classes outdoors either. ... I believe this Includes Boot Camp. All organised sports are restricted until Stage 2 mid June. 06.01.2022 Hi to all SKA Members, With a heavy heart, I have to let you know: We come under the broad umbrella targeted by the Prime Minister.... I have informed all venues we will cease trading, as per the Prime Ministers Directive, from midday today. We are currently seeking confirmation if and/or when karate can continue. As it stands no classes can be held until this crisis is over. Some venues are already locked by the providers. Our only option appears to be offering private lessons at the dojo, which will be with Paris and myself. But that too will need clarification. . I have not gone to Melbourne and will be at Mary MacKillop even if only to tell people the decision and leave a sign on the door. I will advise any changes to the above. If interested in Private Lessons please phone or text me on 0412 061 407 Regretfully Kyoshi Rene

06.01.2022 Christmas Update. Huge changes to our new Dojo, many thanks to the team of people who drop in to help regularly. Front looks brand new, as the entry takes shape, many thanks to Paris, Hamish, Kelly and Allan, who made a huge effort before Christmas.... The inside is secure, many thanks to Martin Busk installing the Safety/Security bars across the glass doors. Tomorrow we sand and paint the inside front wall. Then more security grills, mirrors up, signs up, equipment installation, a good clean and mats down for Tuesday January 5th. It's been a mammoth effort by everyone, especially Sensei Paris, here everyday. The new Dojo, will be our proud home in 2021, it is shaping up to be a huge upgrade from Fox Street. As much as I will miss the place. I look forward to welcoming you all to training at the new dojo. Kyoshi Rene Roggeveen
