Great job team! _______________________________________________________________ Papua New Guinea Sport Anti-Doping Organization... PNGSADO/PILAI TURU Papua New Guinea Sports Anti-doping Organization (PNGSADO) in partnership with Sports Drug Testing International (SDTI) based in Sydney, Australia, conducted an anti-doping education session for the PNG Kumuls and support staff on Sunday 8th October 2017 at the Gateway Hotel. The session was conducted by three Play True Pasifik anti-doping Educators in training, Dr. Bernie Amof , Mr. ILLaita Gigimat and Mr Richard Ora with PNG Olympic Committees Oceania Sports Education Program coordinator (OSEP), Mrs Alu Ravusiro. It covered, their rights and responsibilities in relation to anti-doping, what to expect when required to undergo an anti-doping test, how to maintain whereabouts information to avoid sanctioning, advice on medications, supplement risks and illicit drugs; and prohibited lists of substances and methods. Only recently prior to the Intrust Queensland Cup grand final both Ase Boas and Gland Avabu were tested out of competition and cleared of any performance enhancing substances. PNG Elite athletes must stay out of drugs as we have proven this in the past at the 2014 Commonwealth games in Glasgow where female weight lifter, Mrs Dika Toua picked-up Gold medal after the Indian Girl failed the drug test. PNGSADO has also been requested to provide six male chaperones, Dr, Bernie Amof, Mr. ILaita Gigimat, a Medical student and resident doctor at Pt Moresby General hospital, Mr.Brendon Korowaro & Douglas Patiliu and Mr. Richard Ora and Edmond Bannick from High Performance PNG to assist the drug control officers from SDTI to carry out drug testing during the three Kumuls test matches here. Every athlete must be reminded that the consequences of anti-doping rule violation are so severe and could ruin your reputation and end your career. Furthermore, it could cost your team in which the sanctions could range from a warning, to fines, a points deduction, cancellation of a result and disqualification from the tournament. Therefore the take home message is: KNOW THE RULES, COMPETE CLEAN, STAND PROUD.
