20.01.2022 INFORMATION FOR NSW MEMBERS RE GYM MARSHALLS Advice from Andrew Davison, NSW CAHO, follows. The intention of the NSW Health directive is to ensure gyms have pr...oper hygiene practices and maintain adequate social distancing. The definition of what constitutes a gym isnt clear. However, it makes sense that physio practices with high traffic, those that run groups and classes and/or have large gym spaces demonstrate their commitment to COVID infection control and complete a COVID safe plan. The development of this plan takes a few minutes. Small practices running individual sessions only and with minimum gym equipment do not necessarily need to do this but may consider it. Strict hygiene practices and assessing clients before each appointment is crucial. Reassure clients that their appointment can easily be rescheduled so that they are not tempted to attend when ill. In the case of physio practices, clinicians and group facilitators can be considered marshalls. 13.01.2022 Victorian and NSW members: note the new restrictions require masks to be worn in all indoor spaces in Victoria (excluding private homes) and many public spaces ...in NSW. The APA advises that masks need to be worn by clinicians, support personnel, patients and visitors in Vic and NSW. Although specific new guidelines have not been provided regarding groups and classes, we advise numbers should be kept small and allow for appropriate distancing. Please continue to adhere to strict hygiene practices. We will keep you updated as the situation develops.

13.01.2022 APA Update for NSW members FOR NSW MEMBERS: Our thoughts are with our NSW members and their communities at this time, we are working to understand the implications of today’s newly announced restrictions for NSW members and will provide updates as they become available. Access to healthcare remains essential and obtaining medical care or supplies remains a valid reason to leave home under both the Northern Beaches and Greater Sydney public orders.... The use of masks is strongly recommended in all settings and we remind members to ensure appropriate infection protocols are being adhered to. We urge members in the Northern Beaches LGA to consider pausing groups and classes during the stay at home order period for the safety of all participants. Early advice indicates that those in NSW border communities will continue to be covered by existing border bubble arrangements however, as with other border restrictions, this may be subject to change and we urge you to stay up to date on these rules. We will continue to communicate with the NSW CAHO to ensure that any additional information is distributed quickly while advocating strongly for the ongoing essential status of physiotherapy services. https://www.health.nsw.gov.au//P/public-health-orders.aspx
