25.01.2022 Hi everyone, we are still open! The government has deemed our clinic as an essential service and as such we have continued to help our clients reduce their pain and acheive their goals. We are currently providing the following services; Physiotherapy, Podiatry, Remedial Massage, Myotherapy and Clinical Pilates (small group and 1:1) As you can see from the pictures we are taking infection control seriously by: * asking questions about your health on arrival * asking patients t...o wash their hands and use our hand sanitisers * social distancing in waiting and pilates areas * wiping down all surfaces and disenfecting with alcohol based products For a full list of what we are doing visit our website (www.sportspinalhealth.com.au) For those who wish to continue pilates but not in a group we are running 30min one on one classes for the normal class price. We are also conducting our first telehealth (online) appointment this afternoon, so if you are in pain but have to stay home, this is a great option. Reduced rate of $50 currently as health rebates are not available. Telehealth sessions are conducted over zoom and include: subjective and objective assessment, advice and pain relief exercises and exercise rehab programs. Call the clinic for more info. Thank you everyone for continuing to support us! #physio #podiatry #remedialmassage #myotherapy #clinicalpilates @ Sportspinal Health.

25.01.2022 Weve all done this stretch... but probably not as much as we should! Adductor muscles come under stress with repetitive explosive activities like sprinting and kicking. Vunerable to muscle strain or overuse tendon injuries when tight or weak so stretch them and strengthen them #adductorlife #physio # pilates #stretch

16.01.2022 Frosty clearly has been diagnosed with "Frozen Shoulder" and as such we've included 10 important things to know about the condition below : The medical term for Frozen Shoulder is Adhesive Capsulitis. The joint capsule and ligaments become painful and inflamed. This tightens the shoulder and restricts arm movement especially bending your arm up and out to the side. Restricted arm movement makes everyday life more difficult. Dressing yourself, housework, and general mob...ility can become painful and difficult. Although it is uncommon, women between the ages of 40 and 60 are more likely to be affected. Men are four times less likely to get frozen shoulder. The cause of frozen shoulder isn’t known, however recent trauma or injury to the shoulder can trigger the onset. Preceding events include falls, mastectomy, or immobilization of the arm (use of a sling). Type 2 diabetes, underactive thyroid, and cardiovascular disease may increase your risk of developing frozen shoulder. Frozen shoulder has 3 broad stages that can each last several months. FREEZING: this is notable for increasing pain, particularly at night, as well as arm movements becoming increasingly restricted due to the capsule thickening from inflammation. FROZEN: pain subsides however movement becomes very restricted. THAWING: movement restrictions begin to decrease, and normal movement starts to return. Pain resolves. Frozen shoulder may take more than 2 years to fully resolve. Your GP may refer a frozen shoulder for a corticosteroid injection to help reduce pain in the freezing stage. You may also be given anti-inflammatory medication. Physiotherapy helps! Treatment includes gentle joint mobilization, soft tissue work, and correction of altered movement patterns. Home exercises are also prescribed. Research shows that physiotherapy delivered at the right time and dose can ease symptoms and maximize the amount of movement you regain at the end of the thawing phase. #frozenshoulder #physiotherapy

14.01.2022 Saturday 14th November is World Diabetes Day! The theme for the year 2020 is "Family & Diabetes", the purpose of this is to spread awareness on how diabetes creates impact on families. Have you had your annual foot check by your Podiatrist? ... Keeping diabetes in control is vitally important. Both Type 1 & Type 2 diabetes can cause complications to major organs including your heart, blood vessels, nerves, eyes and kidneys. Diabetes puts strain on the cardiovascular system and increases the risk of narrowing of the blood vessels (atherosclerosis). It can also cause nerve damage (neuropathy), this usually starts as a loss of sense of feeling in the toes and fingers but can eventually lead to reduced feeling in the whole limb. Reduction in both these aspects, can lead to ulceration and possibly amputation. With your feet being the furthest from your brain and heart, changes to your nerves and blood vessels can be picked up in your feet. A full neurovascular assessment done by a Podiatrist analyses the blood flow and the nerve status in your feet. All diabetics should receive a full neurovascular investigation annually (more frequently for higher risk patients). This way any changes can be picked up, monitored and tracked. Your podiatrist will also go over some important foot health tips to help prevent diabetic complications, which include skin and nail care, footwear as well as a biomechanical analysis of your walking. #worlddiabetesday #podiatry #foothealth
