18.01.2022 Vale Graham Strong Dear Customers It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of our companys founder, Dr Graham Strong. He had been fighting illness over the past 2 years but matters turned more serious only recently.... As Grahams son I know your friendship with him through business and your relationship with our organisation over the years meant a lot to him. The team at Sportstek has been receiving many messages of respect for Grahams huge contribution to the Allied Health industry. It was not only through Sportstek but other organizations that Graham has influenced the development of physio equipment, pain relief, womens health, fitness products, and sports bracing. In the years before Sportstek, he worked as a Medical Doctor in general practice, and was also a Director of a large aged care facility in Melbourne. We are going to miss Graham enormously, but it will not affect our service to you in any way. I have been jointly managing Sportstek with Graham for some years now. From here on, I'll take on the full role of senior management and Director of Sportstek. We look forward to continuing to work with you to meet the needs of your business to the highest possible standard. Caleb On behalf of the Sportstek team

12.01.2022 The Mens Elite Gymnastics Support Committee thanks SPORTSTEK for their generous support of the High Performance Centre Invitational Event, 2016. -------------- Dear Caleb,... I write to express our sincere thanks and appreciation to the team at Sportstek for your generosity in support of our gymnastics event held earlier this month. We were delighted to receive donation of a large range of sport-medicine products. We were able to package the items into raffle prizes to fund-raise over four sessions over the weekend. The raffle tickets sold out! Many of the gymnasts arriving at the event were very keen to have their parents buy a ticket. The event was attended by nearly 400 people, supporting around 170 gymnasts competing over the weekend. Attached is a photo of the athletes at the presentation area, which was the same location where we made the raffle draw. There are also a couple of photos of the athletes in action. Finally, you should note that we displayed a thank you poster near our canteen with the donors logos. I have attached a copy of this for your information too. The funds we raise through our event go towards providing the gymnasts with updated equipment and facilities, including travel and accommodation to assist with their training and future gymnastics career needs. Thank you once again for your support of elite gymnastics at the High Performance Centre. Yours sincerely, Michael Connolly President Mens Elite Gymnastics Support Committee Gymnastics Victoria

02.01.2022 Dear Caleb, On behalf of Get Moving Fiji, we would like to say a huge thank you to Sportstek for their generous Physiotherapy donations! The prevalence of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as diabetes and heart disease in the Pacific Region continues to be one of the highest in the world accounting for up to 80% of all deaths in Fiji. For the past month, weve had the absolute pleasure and privilege of volunteering in Fiji promoting exercise, nutrition and health in s...urrounding towns, schools and remote villages. This has included conducting free health screenings (blood pressure, blood sugar levels, height and weight), zumba, yoga classes, and generally just encouraging and educating the Fijian community on simple strategies to maintain a healthier lifestyle through the combination of a nutritional diet and physical activity. This has had such a positive impact, particularly due to the fact that local Fijians care greatly about their health; and rather it has been a lack of opportunity and knowledge that has contributed to the high prevalence of such NCDs. Through providing equipment such as therabands, dumbells, ankle weights, and pilates balls. Sportstek has assisted us in working directly with the Fijian people at a grass roots level to encourage and promote simple and exciting ways to exercise daily. Vinaka vaka levu (Thank you!) Regards, Eunice, Annabel, Jenelle and Laura (Final Year Doctor of Physiotherapy students from the University of Melbourne) #physio #physiotherapy #health #pacificislands #fiji #melbourneuniversity #alliedhealth

02.01.2022 Physiotherapy placement in Port Vila, Vanuatu Late last year I completed a three-week placement at Vila Central Hospital in Vanuatu as part of my physiotherapy studies at the University of Melbourne. Ive been asked many times why I chose Vanuatu when I had the choice of anywhere in world. For me, it was an opportunity to experience a healthcare system vastly different to Australias, and thereby develop better insight into the relative problems faced by developing and develo...ped countries. On the whole, the types of patients I saw were quite similar to those Ive worked with in Melbourne (bronchiectasis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, stroke, etc.), but there were also many patients with diabetic amputations. In a population of 250,000 people, there are reportedly three diabetes-related below-knee amputations per week in Vanuatu! Unfortunately, prostheses are unavailable, so a huge role of physiotherapy in Vanuatu is crutch/wheelchair prescription and training. I saw firsthand the reality of making the most of limited resources; we used the top of an old bedside table to practice slide board transfers with a double below-knee amputee. I was also able to attend some home visits for children with disabilities, which was both confronting and eye-opening. I wont forget one young girl with Downs syndrome who was in need of medical attention for a severely deformed knee that rendered her unable to walk. When I discussed this with my supervisor, he said there was no orthopaedic surgeon in Vanuatu, and even if there were, many locals would rather rely on traditional remedies than seek Western medical assistance. However, despite such difficulties, the children and their families were always smiling a testament to Vanuatus resilience and strength of character. The three physiotherapists at the hospital (the only ones in the whole of Vanuatu!) were extremely grateful for new stock and put it to good use immediately. In a situation where the physiotherapy department receives little, if any funding from Vanuatus government, it is almost entirely dependent on donations from beneficent individuals and companies like Sportstek to survive. So, thank you, Sportstek, for the generous contribution!
