20.01.2022 Great work from the Sports Turf Team at Rosedale Oval Liverpool Sydney. This year they worked tirelessly over the winter period to improve all aspects of their ...ground and surrounds to come into summer getting fantastic feedback from all our stakeholders on the wicket and outfield condition. Rob and his apprentice Riley are graduates of the STA wicket 101 and 201 wicket curators program and in short notice prepared trial games for NSW cricket and 2 day training camp Sydney Thunder . Well done guys going above and beyond pays dividends See more
19.01.2022 Just on the additional heat we'll be feeling over the next couple of days, the low off the coastline looks mighty impressive! But it's the reason for the warmth..., as it'll help drag the heat across from inland QLD and NSW across to our neck of the woods. What's interesting is the same setup in winter would cause the opposite (cool, dry weather) - that's because in winter, inland NSW and QLD is traditionally quite cool, while in summer it's hot out there. Often we're at the mercy of the wind direction as to what the temperatures will be.

10.01.2022 Supporting training of tomorrow’s automatic outdoor power equipment technicians - several used Toro walk power mowers and a ride-on, were donated to TAFE Skills...tech in Bracken Ridge, QLD, for use in their apprentice training program. Toro strongly believes in investing in the future of the turf industry and investing back into an industry that has been such a great supporter of us. Apprenticeships are offered in our own service centres and combined with ongoing education by external providers, it is one way how we can ensure ongoing skills development in the industry. See more

07.01.2022 The sports turf industry is somewhat covered by five different awards. None of them actually represent what turf workers do or what their industry demands of t...hem. They are compared with bar attendants, carnival and amusement park workers, cooks and wait staff. It is time that our Billion dollar industry is recognised for the importance it plays in commercial value of sport, health, wellbeing of the population and the mental/physical impact it has on those working at its core. We need a Modern Award for the sports turf industry where it can be recognised for what it’s actually worth. See more

05.01.2022 ALBERTON OVAL REDEVELOPMENT 'A shovel ready Port Adelaide is hopeful of starting a big redevelopment of its Alberton Oval precinct in June, providing the club... gets an even-handed treatment from the Federal Government, chairman David Koch says.' 'Now costing between $18 million and $20 million, the proposal includes upgrading the change rooms in the Williams Family Stand for AFLW at Alberton Oval; expanding the high-performance facilities in the Allan Scott Headquarters for the men’s, women’s and SANFL team; creating two basketball courts for the West Adelaide Bearcats to use for their junior teams; and a FIFA standard soccer pitch that will be used as an additional training space for Power players, but also by the North West Junior Soccer Association after hours.' This is in addition to the renovations of the Port Club, including a new club museum and shop, and taking the Bob McLean sports bar and bistro upstairs to overlook Alberton Oval. Koch told The Advertiser it was about making sure Alberton Oval not only remained as the spiritual home of Port Adelaide, but as a key part of the western suburbs of Adelaide and as a gateway to the Port as well. If you look at great sports organisations around the world, it is those clubs and organisations that engage a community that builds their culture and DNA, he said. I think for us, the western suburbs of Adelaide and in particular the Port area has always been a working class area, the club has played a really important role in the community for 150 years and it is just as important today. But this is reliant on the club getting Federal and State Government funding for the project. An analysis of funding for facilities for AFL clubs from Federal and State Governments over the last five years by The Advertiser reveals the Power are the only club in the league not to receive grant support for either a new facility or upgrades.'
05.01.2022 Yesterday the second year city students were TAFE's version of a top maker. They used a turf cutter to remove the top layer from the bowling green surrounds as ...part of their renovate sorts turf unit. The aim was to remove the thatch and bulk of Buffalo stolons to try and encourage the existing couch to regenerate. And they did a great job. 01.01.2022 A familiar story around the country. If not for our teams of Turf Professionals around the country sport would not be professional. They’d be playing on community sports fields rather than the stages we now present for multi million dollar televised tournaments.
