25.01.2022 Term 3 brings the exciting return of weekend sport. This week's throw back looks at girls and boys Basketball. As always, feel free to let us know of any names of students and coaches, as well as the years these photos were taken. We hope you enjoy these photos from the SPOSA archives.
25.01.2022 It is with sadness that we share the news of the passing of Lois Dron (nee Eckert), former St Peters teacher and wife of the Colleges third Headmaster, Carson Dron. Lois passed away peacefully on Monday morning, after spending the past 5 weeks in the Wesley Hospital. Current Head of College, Tim Kotzur, shared these words with the St Peters staff community, which we feel are a fitting tribute to a wonderful teacher, second mother to so many students, and much loved colleagu...e: Lois was a wonderful teacher in her own right serving the College in three separate stints: 1957-1966, 1971-1978 & 1980-1994. She was also a terrific support for her husband Carson as he lead St Peters as Headmaster for close to 25 years from 1970 -1994. As Carson acknowledged in 2018 at the official naming of The Dron Auditorium, it was Lois support that enabled him to serve as he did. Fittingly, The Dron Auditorium is named in honour of both Carson and Lois in recognition of their outstanding contribution to our community. Lois was 91, having celebrated her birthday on Thursday last week. As a community we give thanks to God for the selfless service of Lois to St Peters.
25.01.2022 Term 3 has come to an end, and we are very proud of the current cohort of St Peters students who have made it through another term while dealing with continued challenging conditions. In particular, SPOSA has been thinking of the current Senior cohort, and we wish to thank all of our Old Scholars who very kindly sent us messages of support for the 2020 St Peters Seniors. From these messages, SPOSA prepared a video for the Seniors to congratulate them on what they have achieved so far and wish them well for the remainder of the year. We had over 30 Old Scholars send us messages. The following link contains a shorter version which we thought you might enjoy. Thank you again to those who contributed. We appreciate all of your support and wish the Seniors all the very best. https://drive.google.com//14IPi4iFZwZQa7eIfmW3-DVn-B/view
24.01.2022 Important announcement regarding the first issue of the Plus Ultra magazine for 2020: Due to the current COVID19 situation, the College has made the decision that the first issue of the 2020 Plus Ultra magazine will be released online only. We dont want you to miss out, so please ensure you have an updated email address on file with SPOSA. Please email [email protected] to notify us of any updates to your details.
21.01.2022 With social distancing still firmly in place, it is not possible for group class photos to be taken this year at St Peters. Social distancing certainly makes you appreciate the times when the school has come together to take a whole school photo. These photos below show what a huge undertaking the process is. This all school photo shoot, taken in 1993, took one full day to set up the scaffolding, and 1.5 hrs to get students and staff in to position! The final photograph measured 980mm x 470mm. A 2m x 1m enlargement was also commissioned and resides in our SPOSA office. Were you in this photo? Do you recognise your friends and teachers?
20.01.2022 In today's throwback Thursday, we take a trip down memory lane to the year 1986. "Dr Rock" (aka Headmaster Dr Dron) and the St Peters Blues Brothers Cover Band surprised the student body by performing "Rawhide" during a concert to raise money for the College's Community Service program in the Gym. Our sources tell us this illustrious Band was made up of teachers Bruce Rasmussen and Mark Ash, as well as students Rolf Moses, Jason McMillen, Jeremy Wiltshire, Paul Kahlert, and Peter Hurwood. If you know of others, please let us know! Were you there? We would love to hear your memories. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q2-HAJlA34Q
20.01.2022 Today we shine our throwback Thursday spotlight on St Peters Junior School / Primary Years. What a wonderful, caring and supportive place for students to start their schooling journey. From early beginnings in 1973, the Junior School (now known as the Primary Years) has grown exponentially in size. Throughout this growth, the Junior School has remained a place where students feel nurtured, while being offered an incredible amount of opportunities. Thank you to all of the staff who have worked in the Junior School / Primary Years for making this a unique experience for so many. We hope you enjoy these photos from this very special part of St Peters.
20.01.2022 Good luck to both teams for the David Brown Cup! To watch the game, please follow the live link below. Go Saints!

16.01.2022 Following on from last week's Basketball throwback, we thought you would enjoy some photos of another term 3 sport, Netball. From the first game in 1954, St Peters students have loved being involved in netball. The number of girls involved in netball at the College continues to grow each year. We would be interested to hear your memories - favourite position, coach, or team?
16.01.2022 2020 has certainly been full of challenges. Our thoughts have been with the current year 12 cohort in particular. We have decided to make a short video for the St Peters seniors and would love your help! Our aim is to combine messages from our Old Scholars (from anywhere in the world!) with words of encouragement, congratulations, and good luck. Feel free to wear your old uniform , maroon and white, or even hold a photo or something that reminds you of St Peters. If you would like to be involved, please send your video to us at [email protected] by Friday 31 July. Be sure to tell us your full name and peer year so we can include that in the video. We look forward to seeing your contributions and can't wait to show you the finished product!
16.01.2022 The SPOSA Office was very saddened to recently learn the news of much loved past teacher, Bruce Rasmussen's passing. Bruce was loved by all who knew him and made a huge impact on many people. Former Head of College, Dr Carson Dron, has kindly shared some words with us. Thank you Carson for these very meaningful and special memories. Vale Bruce Rasmussen I was quite devastated by the recent news of Bruce's sudden and unforeseen death. He and I had retained a friendship over... the many years since we were at Saint Peters together. I first met Bruce when he came to Saint Peters to do his practicum as part of the Diploma of Education. His supervising teachers immediately recognised his talent and aptitude for teaching and they recommended that I offer Bruce a position at St Peters, which I did. Bruce turned out to be an outstanding teacher who related very well to students and to other staff. Later on he began teaching information Technology and was involved in the development of computers and computer education at the school. He helped establish Saint Peters as an Apple school both with regard to a business/staff network and also a teaching network. Bruce was highly energetic, and besides his activities as a teacher he became involved in staff social activities that contributed greatly to staff morale and camaraderie. He and several other teachers established a St Peter Social Club, which organised staff dinners at the end of term. These were held in the Reception Room at Ross Roy after students had departed. He was always full of ideas. On one occasion he and other members of the Social Club bought red roses and on the eve of Valentine's Day went around and put a red rose in each and every staff pigeonhole that belonged to a female staff member. Despite the difference in our ages Bruce and I became very good friends and had many enjoyable, often uproarious dinners with our wives and other members of the social club. My late wife Lois became a close friend of Margot Rasmussen when they were teaching together in the Middle School, and once again, despite the difference in ages, Lois considered Margot her Besty. Early in his 20s Bruce was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes, and in the last couple of years the symptoms of that dreadful disease became more apparent and Bruce became increasingly unwell. However none of us had any idea how sick he was. In fact we had planned a get together this coming Sunday at the home of Michael Einersen and I was to cook my famous Moussaka. Bruce will be sadly missed by so many people, and his memory will remain with us. I will remember him as a good and loyal friend, a caring man of great intelligence and joie de vivre with a great sense of humour.
16.01.2022 Next year is the 75th Anniversary of SPOSA! To celebrate, we would like to showcase our 75 most notable Old Scholars - and we need your help! Please tag, comment or DM your recommendations.
15.01.2022 We wish to advise that SPOSA has postponed all reunions, events and workshops scheduled to occur in 2020. We are disappointed to make this announcement, however it is important we follow the advice from government authorities in relation to the COVID-19 situation. To ensure the health and safety of our Old Scholars and their families, as well as the staff and students of the College, all face-to-face functions are postponed until 2021.... If you are able, we encourage you to keep in touch with your peers during this time. Please contact the SPOSA Office on (07) 3377 6592 or email [email protected], and we will help you connect with others in the SPOSA community. Thank you for your understanding and support. We wish you all health and happiness in 2020.
15.01.2022 SPOSA has been enjoying reconnecting with our inspiring Old Scholars who are working in fields directly related to the COVID pandemic. St Peters Alumna Dr Sarah Whitelaw (1991) is an Emergency Physician at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and board member of the Australian Medical Association in Victoria, and is working closely with the COVID pandemic every day. Sarah shared this beautiful performance by the Royal Melbourne Hospital Scrub Choir, which she participated in. We hope you enjoy this moving piece. Congratulations and thank you to all of our Old Scholars who are working in COVID related industries and helping to keep Australians safe. https://youtu.be/w1YtT0qLjDA
15.01.2022 The month of May will always bring back memories of St Peters' annual Autumn Fair, Herbstfest. A highlight of the year, which was always looked forward to by students. The fair included rides, a variety of stalls, sporting, musical and art displays. Herbstfest was always a success (even in the rain!) and required a huge amount of work from teachers, parents, and students. We thank them all for their time and effort over many years. What are your memories from Herbstfest? What did you look forward to the most?
14.01.2022 Today's throwback Thursday memory is of girls Gymnastics. Although the QGSSSA Rhythmic Gymnastics competition could not proceed this year, we found these great photos in our archives of Artistic and Rhythmic Gymnastics. Once again we would love to know names and dates if you have them!
13.01.2022 Luther House Decommission Service - 9am Sunday 29 November Due to COVID the decommissioning of Luther House had to be cancelled earlier this year. Now that restrictions are gradually lifting, and planning is advancing for the new Teaching, Learning and Innovation Centre, the decommissioning can now take place. The decommission service will take place as part of the 9am St Peters Lutheran Church service on Sunday 29 November. ... You will need to register your attendance either beforehand or on the day and there are seating restrictions in the chapel. Please contact the SPOSA Office ([email protected] or 3377 6592) to advise of your attendance. We will then send you a link to the pre-registration. We look forward to sharing this special occasion with you.
13.01.2022 Are you a St Peters Old Scholar language student? If so we need your help. If you studied a language at St Peters and are using it (or another language) in your work life now, we would love to hear from you. Please send an email to Mme Sliwinska, [email protected] with your name, the year of your graduation, and what you ar...e doing with your language. We would love to hear from you!
12.01.2022 In this week's throwback Thursday, we revisit a wonderful video taken by Old Scholar Garth Dennis (1962). Such a brilliant reflection of SPLC school life in the early 1960's. We hope you enjoy this trip down memory lane. You might even recognise some familiar faces!

11.01.2022 It is with a heavy heart that we advise of the passing of another wonderful St Peters past staff member, Lindsay Farrell. Lindsay worked at the College from 1977-1988 as a teacher and Head of the Art Department. During that time, Lindsay's quiet approach saw him well regarded by his peers as a true gentleman and committed Christian. Staff and students loved Lindsay not just for his amazing talents, but for the person he was. Lindsay will be remembered with a great deal of love and respect, and we thank him for his service and commitment to the College.

07.01.2022 As we remember our ANZACs today, our thoughts are drawn also to what the end of World War II meant for our students in their first year of schooling at St Peters. So interesting to read these pages from the first school magazine, in particular, the words recorded for 15 August 1945. Old Scholar, Dorothy Kajewski (Wolski), recalls the school bell being rung for a very long time, and the seniors telling her that the war had ended. Lest we forget.
06.01.2022 Class of 2010 - did you know your time capsule is in the SPOSA archives? Who remembers what is inside? When larger gatherings are allowed, we would love you to collect this and open it with your 2010 SPLC friends. Meanwhile, we hope you enjoy these memories from your senior year.
06.01.2022 How good is school spirit? War cries always fill us with passion and pride. We look forward to hearing more war cries from you in the future. Does this bring back memories for you? What was your favourite war cry when you were at St Peters?
05.01.2022 St Peters Lutheran College has had a long and successful association with swimming. In today's throwback Thursday, we take a look at the first pool built on campus, the 25m pool. Built in 1964 with the help of the boarder boys, the 25m pool is a busy place almost all year (naturally in non-covid conditions). We hope you enjoy looking back at how the 25m pool has evolved. What are your memories from the 25m pool?
05.01.2022 Today's throw back completes our 4 weeks of music memories. What better way to finish this series than with the wonderful Bands program. Did you have a favourite instrument, group, teacher, tour, camp, piece of music? We would love to hear your memories. If anyone knows the dates of when some of these photos were taken, we would love your help! Please comment below if you can help us out. Thank you!

Did you have a favourite teacher, piece of music, performance, tour?
03.01.2022 It's Cross Country season so what better time to reflect on St Peters Interhouse Cross Country Carnivals. What are your memories of Cross Country days? Killer Hill anyone??
