25.01.2022 Is spray tanning safe during pregancy? So the main active ingredient in spray tan solutions is the DHA. DHA is non-toxic and does not penetrate the outer layer of the skin so can not be absorbed in to the body. ... The FDA (Food and Drug Administration) has approved DHA for external use only and it is restricted to external application only. They advise not inhaling or ingesting DHA or letting it get in to your eyes. Using a tanning salon with professional extraction can limit the amount of DHA you inhale. If youd like to be extra safe you can always ask to wear a mask whilst being sprayed. Ive been a professional spray tan of in nearly 10 years now recently had a child and spray tanned myseld and other clients throughout my entire pregnancy (including the first trimester) In my professional opinion spray tanning is safe during pregnancy.
