25.01.2022 Hi All. Coming events -- This Fri June 9th--there will be a casserole/sweets night at the club. Come along and catch up with your mates . 6pm but bar open earlier. Fri 16th All members are invited to an open house at the Dev Golf Club to celebrate the Official Launch of the Devonport Country Club project. 4.30 -- 5.30 with a free drink on arrival. Also invited to stay on for a meal at the bistro afterwards. Bookings for the meal are essential and may be made through Phil At...kins at [email protected] Good wins to all three indoor bowls teams this week -- keep up the good work. 25.01.2022 Results for this morning are as follows. Men Tas: 53 Vic: 51... Women Tas: 42 Vic: 55 With the Tassie men getting a win this morning they require a win or draw to win the shield. Tassie women are without a chance though still bowling strong. Second game is underway, more updates to follow.
23.01.2022 Winners of the last cribbage night for the season were Ronny Sharman and Phil Atkins. Sarah took away the lucky door prize.. Great supper to finish the night.
22.01.2022 Fantastic to see Spreyton Junior Ashlee Woolley chosen to represent Tasmania. With Clinton Steers who represented Tasmanian last year having won the boys shield ineligible for juniors. Congratulations Ashlee, we have a great future at the club. 21.01.2022 Spreyton bowls club have been host to the Tasmania vs Victoria mens and womens test. Tomorrow is the final day, with the Tassie men going in with a chance tie 1.5-1.5 to Victoria. Tassie women have fought hard however cant get the better of Victoria. Get down to the club tomorrow and support the Tassie teams, 8.30am start for first game and 1.30pm start for second game.
20.01.2022 Tasmanian representative -- A Big Congratulations to Ashley Woolley on making the Tas Junior side. She will represent the state (and Spreyton) in the test series against Victoria on the 11-13th of July. Well done Ash, I know you will do us proud. Reminder to members of the official launch of the ""Devonport Country Club" at the golf club Fri 16th June at 4.30pm. Cribbage last wednesday was won by Bob (the rabbit) ODonnell with 8 wins. Well done Bob Indoor bowls. Ladies had ...a bye but played their club fours. Winners were I Jones, R Young, B Brooke and M Pithouse. The mixed bowls teams both had wins with Div 2 being third on the ladder and Div 3 second. Keep up the good work. Last weeks Casserole night was well attended and a great night was had by all. 19.01.2022 Another win to the Devonport Eagles at the Ladies carnival at Latrobe. This week it was Lyn Young, Julie Ivory, Judy Harrison and skip Helen Squibb who bought home the bacon. Well done girls. Pennant games begin this week. Good luck and good bowling to all Devonport Eagle teams.
19.01.2022 Update Don't forget our AGM next Monday evening --29th May at 7 pm. Hope you all make it. Indoor Bowls is going OK. Ladies are second in their roster and in the Mixed, both Div 2 and Div 3 are in third position. Cribbage has started on Wed evenings at 7.30 pm Come and enjoy a great night. Winners last week were P Atkins and Sarah Mayne. Saturday morning bowls at Ulv is under way with two 9 round competitions. Teams are two rinks of four ( 8 per team ) If available contact Kev Dowling.
18.01.2022 No ladies pennant last week but the club had good wins in the mens Div 3 and Div 5 games on Sat. All rinks won in Div 3 with the big winners being the ones skipped by B Harrison and A Duncan, both finishing with plus 29 shots. Div 5 continued their push up the leader board with their third consecutive win and having success on all rinks. The Ladies club singles championships have been completed with Heather Conacher being successful in A grade and Sue Wilson taking out the B Grade. Well done Ladies. Social bowls is on again tonight with only a couple of weeks left in this series. Come and enjoy a great night.

15.01.2022 In the ladies comp Div 2 are still undefeated while the one point loss to Div 3 has made their path to the finals a bit harder, but still possible. Div 5 men have continued their good form with another win and top rink for Sat was G Linger, M Woolley, K Ward and H Woolley with plus 11. Congratulations to Michael Higginson on winning the Bowls North West Singles championship and we wish the best of luck in the state titles being played on Monday. Dates to remember are the Fri 7th April for the Annual dinner and Fri 21st of April for the 150 club dinner.
15.01.2022 This weeks round up shows that our Div 2 Ladies have remained undefeated albeit by one shot while the Div 3 team have climbed to fifth spot and a win tomorrow is critical for a chance at the top four. Our mens premier league had a very welcomed win while Div 3 lost any chance of finishing in the top two. Div 5 continued their good form winning on two rinks although going down overall. Top rink from Sat was the premier league rink of T Dickson, M Baulch, T Hamilton and M Adams, winning by 19 shots. Social bowls concludes for this season so come along tonight for a great evening. A reminder to all members of the meeting on Thursday night at 7 pm at the Devonport Bowls and Croquet club.
14.01.2022 Review of the week Tues - Indoor ladies had a bye and remain in second position. They played their club triples which was won by Irene Jones, Ros Young and Barbie Smith. Wed - Cribbage was won again by Bob ODonnell and Phil Rockliff. Any more wins and they will be swabbed, and to rub it in Rocky also won the lucky door prize. Thurs - Both indoor mixed teams suffered losses but still remain in second and third positions. Fri - The casserole/sweet night was enjoyed by all that... attended. In the BPL cup played at the Burnie indoor centre our team of M Higginson, I Moore and C Steers won their first game and were then defeated in a play-off in the second. Good effort boys. Sat - Winter roster at Ulv - A good win ( +14 ) by P Ratcliffe. B ODonnell, M Maxwell and P Rockliff carried the side to victory. See more
14.01.2022 The indoor season came to an end on Friday evening with our Div 2 side going down to Wesley Vale by one solitary shot. A great effort but just not quite enough. Better luck next season Cribbage on Wed was again won by Phil No Frills Atkins , this time partnered by Lyn Baulch. Come along on a Wed at 7.30 for a fun night. Sat morning bowls at Ulverstone was washed out. The latest drawings of our new development are up at the Club for your perusal.
14.01.2022 Hi All The Indoor ladies began the week with good wins in the elimination final and then the preliminary, both played on Tues. They now advance to the grand final to be played against Turners Beach this Tues at 1 pm at the Devonport Bowls Club. Come along and give them your suppoprt. Go Ladies. Cribbage on Wed was a tight finish with Lyn Fitzpatrick and Peter Charlesworth winning on a countback from Ros Young and Geoff Mayne, both with seven wins.... Thurs night bowls had mixed fortunes,with Div 2 winning and Div 3 going down. However finals begin this week and both teams will be participating. Good luck to all. 06.01.2022 Congratulations to Gus Jackson who filled in for a Railton indoor bowler who had to work during the state championships. Yes, Gus is a state champion, helping Railton win the Div 3 final, the only final won by the north-west this year. Helen Squibb won the last night of cribbage for the year, well done Helen. Now that crib and indoor bowls have concluded it must be time to shine the big bowls. For the history minded, Spreyton played Devonport at Ulverstone last Sat in what wa...s most likely the last game played between the two clubs. Devonport were victorious Nomination forms are on the notice boards for selectors, both men and women for the coming season. There is to be a selector from each club (Spreyton and Devonport) to select teams in the various divisions. Each pair of selectors will do two divisions ie in the Ladies, Div 1 & 2, and another pair for Div 3 & 4. Nominations close on 8th of Sept so come and put your hand up now. See more

04.01.2022 The Annual General Meeting of the Spreyton Cricket and Bowls Club is scheduled for Mon 10th July at 7.30 at the clubrooms.All welcome. Cribbage going nicely with this weeks winners being Bob ODonnell and Phillip Rockliff. Bob also won last week when partnered with Helen Squibb. Still room for more at 7.30 on Wed evenings. Indoor bowls is nearing finals. Ladies are second after another good win this week. In the mixed comp Div 2 are also second and although Div 3 lost this week they are still in third position.
01.01.2022 A good turnout to cribbage last week where the victor was P Atkins with 8 wins. Come along for a fun night every Wed at 7.30 Indoor bowls is still going well. In the Ladies comp they had another narrow victory (2 shots ) and are holding their place in the top three. Div 2 (mixed) had a win and remain in 2nd place while despite a loss Div 3 are still third. 01.01.2022 A gallant effort by the Ladies indoor side in the Grand final in going down by one shot. A great season ladies. Cribbage on Wednesday was won by Adam Clifford and Phil (No Frills) Atkins. Adam also took home the goodies from the doorprize. Thursday night had mixed results with Div 3 losing their elimination final, but had put in a good season with many changes during the year. Div 2 had a great win and advance to the Grand final to be played at Devonport on Fri 4th at 7.30. ...Come along and show your support. Another cool morning at Ulverstone on Sat morning resulted in one rink winning but going down overall. Updated plans for the new complex are now available for viewing at the club. 01.01.2022 Congratulations to the Div 2 Ladies in winning their second consecutive north-west flag. They defeated Wynard 65-46 in the final. Teams were J Armstrong(s), H Squibb, L King D Duncan L Baulch(s) J Harrison, L Young, M Howe. N Hardwicke(s) H Conacher, M Dwyer and J Ivory. All teams won on the day. Good luck in the State finals.
01.01.2022 Greens are now open for practise. Any intending players who have not yet been to the club are urged to do so, as to arrange uniforms and give notice of your availability. A "Come and Try Day" is organised for Sun 1st Oct from 11am to 2 pm. Bring a friend and enter them in the draw to win a new set of bowls plus bowls bag. This can be a practise session and includes a free sausage sizzle. Congratulations to our Ladies who won the Season Opening Carnival played at Turners Beach. The team of Sue Wilson, Ros Young, Maree Dwyer and Mieka Howe became our first team to win under the banner of the Devonport Eagles. Well done, with hopefully many more to follow.
01.01.2022 A great win for Div 5 this week with all rinks being victors. Top rink for Sat was the premier league combination of I Moore, G Ollington, D Hamilton and P Cornick. Social bowls continues tonight with the popular pairs format. New players are welcome. A reminder to members of the special general meeting called for Thurs 16th at 7 pm. Due to a function at the club there will be no players teas after this Sat game.
01.01.2022 Thats a wrap for the 2016 Tasmania vs Victoria test series. Congratulations to Victoria men and women who take home both shields. In the final test Tassie women fought strong, winning their first test of the series 52-47. It was down to the wire in the mens final test, with Tassie 2 down overall and one bowl to play pressure was on, unfortunately Vic picked up the shot. Taking the final score to Tassie 50 - Vic 53. Congratulations to both Tasmanian teams, fantastic bowls have been showed over the past three days.
