A message from the new president here- hot of the press: Hi all Firstly a massive thanks to our previous members. Eric, Larks, Ali and Sarah You have all helped the club out for a long time and have left us in good hands. Your thankless time spent at the club is appreciated. To our new members, thanks for putting your hands up to help the club move forward. We have a new and exciting committee. New faces and ideas. I am thrilled to be able to lead us forward and to make our club the place to be. It will be a team effort for the committee, and we are fully aware of the new challenges that await us and everyone with Covid. I firmly believe that to be successful on the field; you need to be successful off the field. We, as the committee, will support the coaches and players and will strive to ensure that we are all working towards the same goal. One team one dream I look forward to seeing new faces around the club and reaching out to past players to bring them back into the club as well. Thanks again Travis. Be sure to get around the boys training Monday night at Maidstone Park 5:30 and Wednesday night 5:30 at Eugene St.

23.01.2022 PLAYER ANNOUNCEMENT The Spreyton Eagles are excited to introduce Kaden Bracken to the Eagles family. Kaden trained with us earlier in the year before our season was postponed. Brax added high standards and professionalism to the group in only a short time with us, which lifted the intensity and belief of the group. This again has been evident in our start to pre-season. ... Kaden has put together a great career winning two under21 NWFA awards with Rosebery-Toorak. Having stints at the Burnie Dockers in both the TSL and NWFL, and while playing with South Burnie, Kaden has won a B&F and a runner up medal, four FLAGS, and in 2018 being awarded B.O.G. Off-field Brax has a beautiful young family with his young fella already expecting many touches of the Sherrin every time he’s at the club. The club is already blown away by Kaden’s charity work as his passion for fund runs seeing him pound the pavement for hundreds of kilometres to raise funds and awareness for numerous charities!!! See attached the upcoming event. Welcome to the family legend! https://www.theadvocate.com.au//rallying-to-run-for-tark/ https://burnietickets.com.au/event/run-for-tarkyn-12224

18.01.2022 The Spreyton Football Club wishes to inform our Life Members, Players, Sponsors, Supporters and followers that after many meetings, discussions, phone calls and feedback, the Committee have made the hard but unanimous decision that we will not be participating in a shortened season in 2020. We would like to let everyone know that although this decision won’t please everyone- we have looked at every point raised, all the information made available to us, every committee membe...r’s opinion, coaches and players opinions and we have thought over this for a long time now. It definitely was the hardest decision we have had to make but we feel it’s the right one for our club. As it stands the pressure on our volunteers to run a normal game day is enough and we are always thankful to those who pitch in and give their time so generously- however we feel that with the added restrictions and protocols that will be in place due to COVID-19, we will be adding too much on our helpers and we don’t feel we have enough people to thoroughly see these protocol’s followed the way they so importantly need to be. Plus keep in mind that we have elderly people actively involved in our club- these people at the ones at most risk. Financially running a normal season can be tricky, however participating in a shortened season with no guarantee that we will generate money to support us seems like more of a risk than we are willing to take. Then we come to our players. The Spreyton Football Club takes the health and wellbeing of all our members seriously, but especially our players. It’s no secret that special things were on the cards for the SFC- preseason was strong, the playing list was strong and then we were all shut down. Due to this and after lengthy discussions with the Coaching staff- it was a clear opinion that without the proper training and fitness and with all the time off, no one is willing to risk the players well-being or injury to anyone for 8 games. We will now start to prepare for season 2021- both on and off the field- where we plan to come back stronger and in an even better position- Fit and financial. We would like to thank the NWFA and AFL TAS for keeping us as informed as possible as changes come to light and restrictions changed. We would like to thank our 2020 Committee and Coaching Staff, a decision no one wanted to make, but one that needed to be made. If anyone would like to ask any questions or would like to speak about this further, please email us- [email protected] Again we understand that this will not please everyone, but we encourage those people to join the committee in 2021 and put your opinions to good use. To those who support us, we appreciate it, especially in these times. We will keep everyone updated with functions that we plan to have and when the AGM has been dated. Thanks, Ali Pearce SFC Secretary

17.01.2022 The Spreyton Football Club family would like to pass on our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to Ted Van Overmeeren and family on the passing of June.. There are no words to ease the pain of Ted's loss, it was evident how much his beloved June meant to him- a lovely, strong lady who stood beside him for over 60 years. June the SFC will always be so appreciative of all the time and effort you put in over the years. Not only with what you contributed, but supporting Ted... too. Ali and Sarah, personally, will always be thankful for the kind invitations into your home for a chat. Rest peacefully June. Xx

08.01.2022 Good Morning!! Just a reminder the Spreyton Football Club will hold its AGM tonight at 7pm in the clubrooms. All executive positions will be vacant and ready for new nominations- as well as the opportunity to become a committee member. ... If you have any questions, please ask. Ali.

05.01.2022 Good things are happening behind the scenes!! We are almost ready to announce our plans for season 2021! Stay with us while we push through COVID times and work our way back- Exciting news to be shared!! ... If you're not already part of this fantastic club- you will want to be!

04.01.2022 It is with a heavy heart and sadness that we acknowledge the passing of one of our most loved life members- Laurie Keygan. Laurie was always full of life and laughter. Always a tall story to tell, always a joke (appropriate or not) and you could always hear him- even before you saw him. A kind gentleman with a rich football history. He will be so very sadly missed by all at the Spreyton Football Club. ... R.I.P Laurie- our deepest condolences go out to Pat and family. X Laurie played between 1956 and 1971, amassing 101 senior games and 14 reserves games. He served the club as President in 1973 and 1974 and was a committee member and NWFA delegate for many years. His service to the NWFA should be noted as well. He held the position of treasurer from 1976 until 1979 and committee delegate plus tribunal member for many years. He recieved Life membership of both Spreyton and the NWFA. Laurie was also a great organiser for many things at club level but a memorable one would be his role in the very successful "Anything Goes" events where he would drive all the event gear around the state for the events. Without people like "Keegs" the club would not be where we are today.

02.01.2022 What an interesting year 2020 has been. COVID rocked us and made us wonder how we would come back- but if there is one thing we are known for- it’s that we at the Eagles nest don’t give up! So it’s very exciting to start making the announcements for season 2021! Our Senior Coaching staff- Bodie Murphy (Senior Coach), Tim Thorpe (Assistant Senior Coach), Robbie Glover (Assistant Senior Coach)...Continue reading

01.01.2022 Friday- Announcement Day!! In what is an exciting time for the Spreyton Eagles, we would like to announce one of the first new members to our club for 2021- Chris Connors! Chris was part of the 2014 Reserves Premiership side at Sheffield and also part of the 2017 Senior Premiership side at Wesley Vale- so when he comes to the Eagles nest- it means business! ... Connors (or Christmas as he is known to those close to him), is a player that is hard at the ball, he describes himself as a utility player, which is a vital role and one that is of great importance to any sporting team. A few things to know about this bloke- He is a Carlton supporter, his favorite player is Patrick Cripps, he would like to travel to America and perhaps the most important one- his biggest influence on his career has been his Grandpa. The Spreyton Football Club is thrilled to have you on board in 2021 Chris- we look forward to seeing the dynamic you bring to the team.
