25.01.2022 Good to see some new faces today and some good scores and shoot offs hope to see you all again at our august shoot as scheduled in the book

25.01.2022 We had a lovely morning with Twamley Farm Guests Toby and Leah. They both hit targets which is always exciting for all involved. Thankfully finished just before the rain started. We cant find a better way to spend Saturday morning. (Posting again.... I think I deleted first post in error!)

25.01.2022 Excellent morning with TwamleyFarm Experience guests April and Michael. It was a 'bucket list' experience for April and she did so well. They both hit targets from the first one out! So glad we could make it a success visit for them

25.01.2022 On Thursday Twamley Farm guest Cal celebrated his birthday by trying a clay target experience. 12/25 later and he had a great birthday thanks to Celine's gift. Well done to Cal who is a complete novice. We hope to see you again soon.

25.01.2022 Good afternoon all, At the most recent meeting of the TCTA, issues associated with rising target and running costs for clubs as well as the fiscal impact of COV...ID 19, was discussed. The reality is costs for running shoots and maintaining clubs are rising, yet shoot nominations have remained the same for quite sometime, and are likely to further rise because of the current economic climate. It was agreed that the TCTA and clubs message all members with a view to ensuring members fully appreciate the current fiscal situation and outlook of our sport and understand that it is highly likely nomination and shoot costs may rise. This might also include changes to event configuration, removing reduced nominations categories and shorter target events, in order for clubs to remain sustainable. What is important though, is that a consistent approach is adopted for the betterment of our sport generally. Feedback is sought from all members on this issue and members are encouraged to consult with their respective clubs to ensure their views are conveyed. The issue will be further discussed at the next TCTA meeting with a view to a identifying a resolution going forward. Fiona Atkins President - TCTA

25.01.2022 The road map says community facilities. Is a range a community facility? We can manage social/physical distancing due to our outdoor non-team; non-contact sport so its all a bit confusing. Golf clubs and swimming pools can open. I think as competition shooters we are under greater threat from the virus at the supermarket or shopping centre! Some clearer definition around who/what can/cant would make the life of a club secretary so much easier

24.01.2022 Today started with a Twamley Farm experience with Larissa and Byron and then practice. Really good scores shot on both single targets and double rise. We really must shoot a bit more double rise. It is so much fun when targets set well as they were today. Cant really think of a better way to spend a Saturday unless of course its spending a Sunday afternoon with Twamley guests!

24.01.2022 Corrected scoreboard

24.01.2022 Great post on TCTA FB page tonight about the goal posts changing in our road map back. I think its important to note that this is a new development in the last couple of days. It does NOT mean that any club who held practice last weekend did anything wrong. As long as there was strict adherence to the guidelines EXISTING AT THE TIME then no one acted illegally or placed the sport or individuals in jeopardy. Unfortunately this whole return to our sport has been a bit of a rollercoaster for State and club administrators. SBCTC thanks the TCTA for their advice today.

20.01.2022 Weather looking good for Saturday 9th. Grab some sunscreen and your gear and head to the east coast for our first competition of New Year. 20t DB C/D, 50t DB New Year cash stash (no sashes), 30t PS cash trophy $50/nomination $25 Juniors

20.01.2022 Spring Bay is ready! We have a Covid Safety Plan, our policies (Member Protection, Inclusion and Anti-doping) and our Strategic Plan have been reviewed against the Safety Plan, our landlord has given their approval to return to range and we have the ACTA approval to restart and bucket loads of sanitiser!! So why arent we competing again? The TCTA has to lodge (done now) a Return to Play plan with State Sport and Recreation and get it approved! It seems every time we turn ...around there is another level of approval. Rest assured though it is not just the shooting sports going through this. It is all sports in Tasmania. Getting our sport at National, State and Club level back on the tracks has been a rollercoaster ride for all administrators. We are all doing our best to get the myriad of paperwork and approvals done to compete again sooner rather than later. Im keen to get back on the track. Are you? See more

19.01.2022 Twamley Farm Guests Sunny and Nathan enjoyed an afternoon at the range. Nathan decided that it was addictive after he broke the first five targets out and went on to an 18/25 and he'd never used a firearm before! Sunny broke 11/25. A great outcome for a lady who had never used a firearm before. Happy belated wedding anniversary too. Glad we could add a good memory to your visit.

19.01.2022 Hi all Club received this on email today....... Dear ACTA Clubs,... Please be advised they, at this afternoons ACTA Executive Committee Meeting, a motion was unanimously passed to Cancel all ACTA National Events for 2020. This decision was made, primarily based on: the need to protect all members health and safety, (especially given the current escalating Covid-19 situation in Victoria and possibly beyond), Inability to predict the likely revisions to any State or Territory Health Department restrictions that may next occur, the deadlines approaching to timeframes in which administrative tasks need to be performed in order to adequately deliver the events, and the cost implications of attempting to stage events that will be severely under-subscribed. We will provide a more detailed report in the August Clay Target e-News which will go out to our members next week. Kind regards, Paul Paul Gilbert Chief Executive Officer Australian Clay Target Association Inc P: +61 2 6938 2121 [email protected] Registered number A12282 ABN: 14 590 029 514

08.01.2022 Hello everyone Here is a link to the website setting out the new sport and recreation rules for Tasmania as from noon today - https://coronavirus.tas.gov.au//sport-exercise-and-recreat Noting that the TCTA has a State Government approved Return to Play plan this is the critical information for us: Sporting activities permitted based on Level C of the AIS Framework for Rebooting Sport, meaning the following are permitted: full contact training;... full competition sport (contact and non-contact); sharing of equipment where necessary; and use of change rooms and other shared facilities. Over and above that there does not appear to be a limit on whether we have a canteen or not as long as we abide by the new 2 sqm metre rule that applies indoors: All people in any single undivided space count towards the maximum number of people permitted. For example, spectators at a pool, athletes and coaches, and canteen staff at a sporting facility are all counted within the maximum number of people permitted in that space. We will have appropriate signage up so please adhere to the now eased restrictions to protect all of us and sanitiser will available whether it is a practice day or competition. NOTE We will NOT be having a canteen at our practice sessions but tea and coffee will be available free of charge. You will be welcome at Spring Bay. Come and see if that trigger still works

01.01.2022 The countdown is on! Only 7 more sleeps until the first competition shoot since March. I know I am excited! We are looking forward to a good day and hope you can make it. Come along and have a great day of competition shooting on the fabulous East Coast. Everyone welcome.

01.01.2022 Hello everyone We have received approval to recommence shooting from the TCTA/Tasmanian Sport and Recreation. It is the final hurdle to getting back on the tracks at least for practice. We will be opening the club for practice on SATURDAY 27th JUNE from 11.00 am and depending on demand SATURDAY 4TH JULY from 12 noon There will be an opportunity to participate in competitive practice. Practice is $8/25 targets; additional contribution for competitive practice pool will... be determined on the day depending on the interest. We are hoping to get clarification around the numbers we can have early in the week. At this point, it looks like 20 so we will need to have a booking system. We would appreciate a quick text message to 0419 533 615 (Cheryl) or 0417 576 247 (Glenn) with your surname and the name of anyone else attending with you so we have a clearer picture of numbers. It will be very much first come, first served if we are restricted to 20 so important to book early. We have all the paperwork in place but there will be some strict Covid-19 rules to comply with 1.5m physical distancing outside (layouts and carpark) 4 sqm distancing in the clubroom (We have placed a limit of 4 people in the clubroom at any given time) Use of sanitiser on each layout and other hand washing facilities regularly throughout the day No lending of equipment including firearms No attendance if you are feeling unwell. It is unfortunately a fact of post-Covid life that if you are obviously unwell you will be asked to leave the range - please understand thats the rule imposed by health officials; not our rule but we need to comply for all our sakes. We will not be able to offer any food for sale. There will be tea and coffee (paper cups/free) on a self-serve basis so the numbers in club room can be managed by those in attendance in accordance with the signage. We are hopeful that we will be able to commence competition on Saturday 11th July but we are waiting on confirmation of that from the various authorities. You will have received an email from the TCTA about how they see shooting looking into the future in terms of rising costs. We would appreciate some feedback from members as to your thoughts about the way forward for Spring Bay bearing in mind that our members have control over how SBCTC is run; To that end, all members who attend the practice session on Saturday 27th are invited to participate in an open discussion session in relation to rising costs. We look forward to seeing you soon.
