17.01.2022 For a relaxing day at the park and a spot of history, visit McLeod Reserve! The park includes seating areas and a playground, but was originally the site of Bankstown’s first public school built in 1862 and there is a plaque at the site to commemorate the school, which was demolished in 1924. The first headmaster of the school was Dugald McLeod, and the reserve was named in his honour. The park also includes a Japanese friendship garden, as Bankstown signed its first intern...ational Sister City agreement with Suita in Osaka, Japan in 1989 and in 1995, the city of Suita donated two traditional Japanese stone lanterns to the city of Bankstown.
