25.01.2022 Marine Conservation Program staff have received a report about an entangled humpback whale calf off Tasmania's east coast. The calf and its mother were seen ne...ar Schouten Island yesterday afternoon and were travelling south at the time. The calf appears to be trailing rope and buoys. Marine conservation experts conducted an extensive aerial survey this morning to try to locate the whale to better assess the entanglement but did not spot the whale. Members of the public are asked to keep an eye out for this whale and report any sightings to the whale hotline on 0427 WHALES. Anyone who spots the whale is asked to accurately record its location and the direction it is heading and phone the hotline for further advice. Whales are powerful animals capable of causing injury or death and the public should not attempt any rescue.

25.01.2022 Congratulations!!

24.01.2022 What a fantastic regatta. SBBC is so proud to have been part of it.

22.01.2022 To our SB20 friends in Australia and worldwide, we hope you and your families are keeping safe in these extremely difficult times. While sailing events are few... and far between at the moment, we hope you find that this wrap of the Spring Bay Mill SB20 Australian Championship 2020 brings you some sailing joy. For those that may have missed the action, the regatta was sailed on the east coast of Tasmania on Spring Bay in March 2020, and was hosted by the Spring Bay Boat Club which is based in the town of Triabunna. The east coast of Tasmania is usually a blue sky blue sea experience, but unfortunately our regatta was held on an uncharacteristically grey weekend. Regardless, there were sunny personalities and fun times, both on and off the water, throughout the entire weekend. Our thanks go to the Spring Bay Boat Club, the Derwent Sailing Squadron, Spring Bay Mill and the Tasmanian Government through Events Tasmania, for their support for the championship. And our final thanks are extended to our fantastic cameraman, Pete Harmsen and his dedicated media boat driver, Richard Goodfellow. The shots that we take and the footage that we film is only possible when we have media boat drivers that put the boat just where we need it to be, without getting in the way of the sailing. So to Pete, Richard and our stills media boat driver David Smith, an enormous thank you.
