20.01.2022 Some news from Merna. Hi Robyn,Lovely weather out here, getting lots of knitting and crochet done while sitting in the sun.Very busy on the property. Most of the stock had been sold during the drought and then the lovely rain in the first part of the year so there is an excess of grass so several paddocks have been mown, raked and now after tomorrow several hundred big bales will be stored in the sheds to be used in the future.Gradually buying more stock when the right ones come into the sales yard.

15.01.2022 Come along and celebrate this milestone of the southern district QCWA!

14.01.2022 Hello members and friends, I'm starting to become hopeful that we will be able to return to having meetings again. Luckily, we are a small group that have the space in the hall for socially distanced seating. Once we are allowed to have 20 people or less, well spaced on a room then perhaps we can resume meetings. Until then, stay safe, have a wonderful Mother's day and hopefully we will see each other soon.x

13.01.2022 Happy New Year everyone If you're entertaining this evening why not try this Country Kitchens Avocado Salsa & Pita Chips recipe. Kick start your new year with some healthier eating habits. Each portion offers 1 serve of fruit/vegetables, and by making your own pita chips you will be avoiding added salt.... #newyearseve #qcwa #QCWASpringbrookMudgeeraba #countrykitchens

13.01.2022 Remembering ANZAC day. I used old milk cartons and a couple of textas to make some candle holders for tomorrow at 6am and Cheryl sent me her story. Also, our Branch donates books each ANZAC Day to the five local primary schools. This year we have given "Birdie" books that help children come to terms with natural disasters such as bush fires, cyclones and drought. There is even one called "Birdie and the big sickness". Hopefully, we are supporting children and their mental health.

12.01.2022 Well today was our first meeting back after Covid19 played havoc with the year. Thanks to everyone for braving the cold and coming out to reconnect. Many thanks to Avril Priem who spoke on the research pathway she undertook to write the story on Jessie Hockings. It features in the current edition of the "Ruth" magazine. Many thanks also to Ian and Pam from the Historical Society in Mudgeeraba. They kindly brought along Jessie's OBE medal. Fantastic! After the meeting we dined "al fresco" under the trees with carolling Magpies to entertain us ... how lovely. And no, although tempted we didn't feed them people food.

11.01.2022 Do you need some new reading material? Perhaps you might enjoy reading the latest edition of the "Ruth" magazine. Our Branch approached them late last year with an idea for an article, and we are thrilled to see it in print! Many thanks to Avril Priem for all her hard work, and for everyone who has participated in any way. We have been pleased to offer a Bursary in honour of Jessie Hockings, for over 27 years. It's lovely to see her story featured.

11.01.2022 Anzac Day is a very important day for my family so I have been busy knitting these poppies to make this wreath for my letterbox. I will be joining my neighbours for the Anzac Day Driveway Dawn Service. My daughter Solita saw military service in East Timor. My son Mark served in the RAAF for many years. Their father is a Vietnam Veteran and I lived in the military community in Malaysia, Singapore and Darwin. My father and his three brothers all served in WW11. LEST WE FORGET... Cheryl

11.01.2022 QCWA Springbrook/Mudgeeraba would like to wish all our members, friends & supporters a very Merry Christmas May you have a wonderful & safe holiday

09.01.2022 Many thanks to all our members who attended today's AGM. Also, thanks to Mrs Gai Johnson, Division President, for visiting and to Mr George O'Brien for being the visiting Chairperson. It was a low key event but all went well. Many, many thanks to Mrs Jenny Williams, retiring secretary, for all her exemplary work over the last 4 years! Welcome to our returning office bearers and to our new position holders. I'm looking forward to us all working together. Here is our executive group. President, Robyn Keene, Vice Presidents Kay Beagley and Jennah West, Secretary, Leslie Taylor and Treasurer, Cheryl Hippsley.

08.01.2022 Hello all, I brought this child's jumper back from a Division meeting earlier this year (it was uncollected from the State conference 2019). It was assumed that it belonged to someone in our Branch. Today though, no one claimed it so I hope that someone else out there might recognize the dark green and red wool. Or perhaps the pink ticket with Class 5, entry 830 on it? Let us know if you know where it belongs please. Thank you.

04.01.2022 Hi Robyn,Have been out and about this morning getting my exercise.Climbing up and down trees. My home is in an old iron bark.Have just been down to the spring for my morning drink. Chris had seen it scampering through the long grass and up the tree.He came up to the house to get me and by the time we got back down,it had climbed down and up this one. There is also an albino on the property which they see occasionally.Merna

02.01.2022 Would you like to learn more about other countries and cultures? QCWA nominates a Country of Study each year as the focus for their International Program’s awareness and fundraising activities. This introduces members to many facets of the Country’s history, crafts, food, music, sports, and other cultural activities. Join us at our next QCWA Springbrook/Mudgeeraba monthly meeting to start an exciting journey of discovery into our 2021 Country of study Malaysia ... 01.01.2022 Today we are at Coomera Branch for the "Jessie Bligh" handcraft competition. A wonderful effort from our members for all of their hard work on entries for our Branch table. Our 6 items were counted cross stitch, paper tole, stump work, pottery, beaded bag and knitted lace. Well done ladies!
