13.01.2022 NAIDOC Week is about acknowledging and celebrating the histories, languages and cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This year’s theme is Always Was. Always Will Be, recognising over 65 000 years of First Nations’ peoples caring for the land. All students at Springdale Heights Public School have been engaged in learning activities this week that looked at different aspects of Aboriginal languages and cultures. We also had the privilege of looking afte...r some of the art and artefacts lent to us by one of our families. Year 3 student, Lily Crupi, enjoyed speaking to all of the classes about her father’s beautiful artworks and the meaning behind them. The students were able to ‘feel’ the different textures on the paintings as some had sand, kangaroo fur and emu feathers. It made it very special for all the students. Well done Lily and thank you to the Crupi family! See more

09.01.2022 Remembrance Day is a memorial day which takes place every year so that countries in the Commonwealth can remember members of the armed forces who have lost their lives serving their country. It was on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, that combat in World War 1 came to an end in 1918. This year our school captains, Rhemi and Eli, along with Miss Farmer, laid a wreath on behalf of our school at Monument Hill and also at the memorial behind St Matthew's Church. Our vice captains, Ethan and Bonheur, led the service at school observing a minutes silence for those who lost their lives during WWI.
