25.01.2022 YMCA Mini Jobs Fair - on the airwaves!! I have just been on a segment at West Bremer Radio with Shane Mallory. The upcoming event was talked about as well as a little about my general role for the region of Greater Springfield. Not forgotten was the initial statement of thanks for the program's support from Queensland State Government, via the Department of Employment, Small Business and Training.... Be sure to listen out for future coverage and let's hope for a follow up to the event itself. A connection to Shane Mallory was made when the Springfield Regional Jobs Committee joined the Greater Springfield Chambers of Commerce and met as fellow members. Today, Shane has been instrumental in allowing us an invaluable platform to present our event - thank you to him and also to West Bremer Radio for the opportunity to appear. We look forward to continuing to forge connections such as this to bolster the region. Pictured below is host, Shane Mallory behind the audio desk (no auto-cue) in sight. If this is the first you are hearing of the YMCA Mini Jobs Fair, please visit: www.springfieldrjc.org.au/ymjf-ymca-mini-jobs-fair/

19.01.2022 NCVER Report - Traditional trade apprenticeships: experiences and outcomes The last in a series of Research Reports conducted by NCVER has been released today. Among its principal findings was this information:... "Completing a traditional trade leads to good employment outcomes. In 2019, over 90% of traditional trade apprentices were employed after completing their apprenticeship, compared with about 75% of non-completers. Completers also fared better than non-completers in staying employed with the same employer as their apprenticeship. Income earnings were also better, with the difference in median annual income approximately $19 000 in favour of completers in 2019. For many traditional trade apprentices, completing or leaving the apprenticeship was not the end of their education or training experience, with around a fifth of completers and a third of non-completers going on to further study. In 2019, almost 15% of non-completers moved on to another apprenticeship, suggesting they still saw value in pursuing an apprenticeship." 16.01.2022 LSAY OFFERS UNIQUE GLIMPSE INTO GENERATIONAL CHANGE NCVER - Media Statement Data from the Longitudinal Surveys of Australian Youth (LSAY) is now available across 3 decades, offering a unique glimpse into how youth transitions in Australia have changed across a generation.... The release of data from the final interviews for the fifth group of LSAY participants, who commenced taking their surveys in 2009, marks a huge milestone for the survey program. The latest data has been used to create Life at 25: then & now; a snapshot of how study, training and work have changed for Australians aged 25 in 2019 when compared with those of the same age in 2009. It shows that significantly higher proportions of unemployed 25-year-olds are reporting a range of challenges while looking for work, including lack of suitable education or skills, poor health or low self-esteem. LSAY participants are recruited when they are 15 years old from Australian schools that take part in the OECD’s Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) and are contacted once a year until they are 25. 13.01.2022 FUTURE OCCUPATIONS The document linked below is a supplemental update to information on p.7 of 'Educate To Employ' - published and released by us in this last month: https://bit.ly/33TGgWy... We have assessed new modelling data from Jobs Queensland that repositions us to now look at modelling from 2019-2024 for what the top occupations are expected to be. What roles need the most number of workers. For this exercise, we have compared this side-by-side to the previous modelling of 2017-2022. It significantly shows only two occupation changes in the top 10 - a reflection of this year's impact. We will review again in the coming year as able, when new data may show the response of the recovery effort and reflection of stability after short-term supply demands for some occupations listed have been met.
