19.01.2022 #UPDATE (2:30pm): The severe thunderstorm warning has been CANCELLED. ************************************************************* A severe thunderstorm warnin...g for damaging winds and large hail has been issued for Canberra and Queanbeyan. The Bureau of Meteorology says thunderstorms are moving towards the east. They are forecast to affect Tuggeranong, South Canberra, Weston Creek and Woden Valley by 1:05 pm and Belconnen, Canberra Civic, Queanbeyan, Hall, Gungahlin and Canberra Airport by 1:35 pm. The State Emergency Service advises that people should: Move your car under cover or away from trees. Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony. Keep at least 8 metres away from fallen power lines or objects that may be energised, such as fences. Report fallen power lines to either Ausgrid (131 388), Endeavour Energy (131 003), Essential Energy (132 080) or Evoenergy (131 093) as shown on your power bill. Unplug computers and appliances. Avoid using the phone during the storm. Stay indoors away from windows and keep children and pets indoors as well. For emergency help in floods and storms, ring the SES (NSW and ACT) on 132 500.

12.01.2022 VERY HIGH FIRE DANGER TOMORROW ALL PERMITS SUSPENDED FROM MIDNIGHT FOR 24 HOURS. The fire danger rating for tomorrow, Sunday 29th November, is Very High and all permits have been suspended. ... If you have recently had a fire please check that its completely extingished. 05.01.2022 TRAINING POSTPONED THIS SUNDAY Due to the long weekend, Springfield Brigade training will be held on Sunday 11th October at 2pm at Patemans Lane. All members, juniors and new recruits are encouraged to attend.
04.01.2022 Crews from Springfield and NSW RFS - Wallaroo Rural Fire Brigade have extinguished a car fire this evening on the Barton Highway between Mundays Lane and Kaveneys Road. The car hit a kangaroo and burst into flames. The two occupants were safely removed from the car and are uninjured. Please be careful if you are driving past the incident and reduce your speed.
