Don't worry, we can tell you all about the cut, clarity, colour and carat weight- also the diamond GIA certification and of course the shape! Cut has the greatest influence on a diamonds beauty and sparkle. If it is too shallow or deep it can be less beneficial to how the light refracts within the gem.... With the clarity, there are many misconceptions including that you need to buy a high clarity grade to avoid seeing imperfections, and that a higher clarity grade results in more sparkle- both are not true! Colour is the second most important 'C'. Diamonds are found in almost any naturally occurring colour, including grey, white, yellow, green, brown, and pink and part of diamond valuation is determined by the absence of colour. Lastly, Diamonds with higher carat weights are cut from larger rough crystals that are harder to source than small crystals. So, the relationship between carat weight and price depends on the rarity or availability of a rough crystal. Usually, the higher the carat, the more expensive. Some of you might have wondered where it all began. Our story starts in In the 1920s, the Parekh family relocated from India to Fiji and went on to create Fijis first-ever jewellery shop, Parekh Bros. The founders of Parekh Bros., Jays grandfather and his siblings saw great success with this endeavour. By the 1980s Jay, Jays brother ...and his Father established Safari Jewellers, a new concept jewellery store in the heart of Fijis capital, Suva. Jay and Kiran Parekh relocated to Australia, and opened the doors of Springfield Jewellers to the public in 2007 where they quickly became known and appreciated for their friendly personalities and reliable customer service! 03.01.2022 As it's the month of the #Sapphire, we thought we'd explore some of history's most famous sapphires! The Rockefeller Sapphire, a 62.02 carat (ct) is a rectangular step cut stone that was unearthed in Myanmar (Burma). Acquired in 1934 by financier and philanthropist John D. Rockefeller, Jr. (18741960) the gem has been recut and remounted over the years; set as a brooch and later as a ring featuring two cut-cornered triangular diamond side stones.
