25.01.2022 Tell your friends - today is the first day of the Fire Danger Period in the Macedon Ranges! The Fire Danger Period is when CFA restricts the use of fire in the ...community. This is to help prevent fires from starting. The Fire Danger Period is NOT the same thing as a Total Fire Ban. See more about the Fire Danger Period here.

22.01.2022 Two tractor related fires in two days. One tractor ignited due to grass build up around hot components and was saved by the quick thinking of the operator and his water extinguisher followed by overhall by the fire brigade. This round baler was not so lucky, despite the operator carrying more than double the legislated amount of water the baler and some of the crop was lost last night. A timely reminder that when operating machinery you must carry at least 9 litres of water i...n a portable extinguisher or knapsack. Consider carrying more where possible. As either of these machine operators will attest. 9 litres does not last long when trying to extinguish a fire. Ensure machines are free from flamable debris and in good mechanical order and remember that despite all best efforts sometimes the unexpected can happen. Be prepared and stay safe. See more

21.01.2022 Last Monday Springfield Fire Brigade attended a tree fire that had spread to the grass after smouldering from a lightning strike many weeks ago. Don’t be fooled by the amount of rain and the colour of the country side - it will still burn! Please note that fire restrictions are still in force.

20.01.2022 FIRE RESTRICTIONS ARE STILL IN PLACE. No Burning Off Until they have been Lifted. While it is encouraging to see people maintaining their properties and cleaning up to reduce fire risk, doing it in the fire danger period is not the right time. If CFA crews are called to an illegal burn off you may also have Victoria Police pay you a visit too. Fire Danger Periods typically remain in place until the fire danger lessens, which can be as late as May.

20.01.2022 A great explanation on Fire Danger Ratings https://youtu.be/QqwwCWeG7qM

19.01.2022 CORONAVIRUS SCAM ALERT Text message scammers are using the coronavirus health crisis to try and steal banking details. Potential victims receive a tex...t message on their mobile phone from 'GOV' telling them they need to get tested for COVID-19, and to click on a link. The Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) says the messages are fake, and if you click on the link it may install malicious software on your phone, which is designed to steal your banking details. If you receive one of these messages, delete the message and DO NOT CLICK THE LINK. Visit the ACSC website for more information: https://ab.co/2Qi7kbe

19.01.2022 Down tools tomorrow Fire Danger Ratings will be elevated across the state tomorrow with a Total Fire Ban declared for the entire state of Victoria. These c...onditions will mean if a fire starts it will be difficult to control and spread quickly. We see over summer fires started by machinery in dry grass so avoid slashing or mowing. If you’re travelling, avoid driving through dry grass. Check the Can I or Can't I guide ahead of tomorrow! www.cfa.vic.gov.au/can Photo credit: Riddells Creek Fire Brigade

16.01.2022 Covid-19 has affected us all in the way we go about our daily lives. The CFA, and more locally Springfield Fire Brigade is no different. As such, we want to advise you we have implemented measures to help protect our members, but more importantly members of the public while still responding to emergencies, in line with CFA guidelines. The most important things that you need to be aware of is that:... Response to all emergency calls will be as normal, that won’t change. We still have an obligation to our community, and will be pro-active on scene with how we manage each response. Our members are all volunteers, and go home to their families after each call, so we ask that you respect any advice or direction you may get from us whilst attending to an emergency. Both our stations will no longer be accessible on Sunday mornings or any other times to members of the public until we get further advice - there will be minimal attendance by only 1 or 2 of our members on Sunday mornings. We encourage people to continue to follow the advice from the Victorian and Federal Government in relation to self isolation, and how to help minimise transmission. We would greatly appreciate any information regarding anyone in self isolation (if known) upon arrival to an emergency. This notice has been put out to help give confidence that your local CFA will still be there for you should you need us. Please look after yourselves and others in during this time. Thank you for your on going support and understanding. Springfield Fire Brigade.

16.01.2022 Wishing everyone a safe & Happy Christmas!

15.01.2022 Please do not donate goods! We are overwhelmed by donations in our relief centres and it is diverting resources away from critical tasks. The best way you can help impacted communities is through financial donations. Visit vic.gov.au/bushfireappeal to help us help these communities.

09.01.2022 Remember to change your Smoke Alarm batteries this weekend. Also reminder that Daylight Savings ends tomorrow morning - wind your clocks back 1 hour and enjoy the extra hour sleep in!
