23.01.2022 CHRISTMAS EXCITMENT!!! Colouring competition sheets will be available for pick up tomorrow onwards from the workshop. We have five prizes for the kids and one adult prize. All entries that are posted in the Springfields Santa’s Mail Box will be displayed on the windows. Judging will take place on Christmas Eve by Councillor Paul Tatchell. Website will be launched over the next few weeks and trailers available for hire soon after. Discounts for our customers and a loyalty program will be offered when our brand new trailers are hired to you by the Springfields team you already know, trust and love. We can’t wait to launch this service in our town and help everyone support local business even more!

The office will be open on and off over the three days for purchases, trailer hire and don’t forget the Lions Drive-Thru sausage sizzle Saturday morning. 16.01.2022 Towing is a serious business! This Mclaren is worth a mere 400k and here it is at home on the back of our tow truck. This is why we pay big bickies for insurance, our contract with Allianz Worldwide Partners sees us loading prestige vehicles on to the truck on a daily basis.

15.01.2022 Springfields Garage are hiring! It’s time to give a young kid a chance at a career with the Springfields family. With the newly released Budget advertising JobMaker, it’s a win win for young job seekers, the economy and small business. So we are looking to hire someone to start as a general hand in the workshop and if the fit is right, an apprenticeship will be offered. These are the requirements to be eligible:... Must be 18 or 19 with a manual licence Must be receiving job seeker or youth allowance over the last 3 months or longer Must be well presented, well mannered with an interest in the automotive industry Must be willing to provide a vic roads and police report So if you fit the bill or know someone that does, then please personally bring your resume down to the shop and introduce yourself. Attach some proof to your paperwork that you are currently receiving job seeker or youth allowance. If we like what we read, we will contact you for an interview.

08.01.2022 Sadly this is what goes on at many mechanics and it makes me sad to say that this is prevalent with women. At Springfields we can proudly say we don’t take advantage of our customers! We provide free written quotes at the customers request. We are happy to explain issues with diagrams if a visual inspection is not appropriate. Any parts we replace can be provided if required so you can see what work we have completed. We can prioritise work required in order to help you budge...t and we even offer an Afterpay service. The business being owned by a woman seems to make other women feel more at ease. Springfields have been around for nearly 20 years and have awards hanging on the wall from the Ballan & District Chamber of Commerce. That tells me we must be doing something right. 07.01.2022 Hello everyone! Tonight the car servicing rules have been released for the areas under stage 4 restrictions. These state that no routine servicing/maintenance can be carried out. Only emergency repairs and recalls can be undertaken. As we are only in stage 3 (and hopefully this is the furthest we get), vehicle maintenance is still classified as an essential service and you can travel to have this done. So, basically I am telling you all to plan ahead and if your car is nearl...y due for service or making a noise, don’t put it off. Make a booking and get it sorted. Because if you don’t and we move into stage 4, you may end up without a vehicle, if it’s an emergency you will have to pay for it to be towed in (that’s the rules!) you also don’t want to be running the risk of losing your new car warranty by missing your service by time (even if the km haven’t been reached). Living in a regional area with little public transport makes life very difficult with no car to get around and get the essentials that we need. I’m not here to scare you but we are in a good position to plan ahead by watching what is going on in metro Melbourne and be much more prepared than they were able to be. 06.01.2022 We’ve been given the green light to travel around regional Victoria and that is great - but before we all jump in our cars, remember most of them have been sitting practically idle for six months. The last thing you need is to break down on your escape. Book your car in for a service and safety check before you plan to travel - don’t take chances with the safety of you and your family!

05.01.2022 I borrowed this image from the local police page because it is so accurate. Every year we see so many holiday makers end up like this because of lack of planning and maintenance. This year the issues will be worse as most cars have been driven/serviced a lot less than usual. Even though you may not be driving your car and think there are no issues related to that, you are wrong! Little trips where the oil doesn’t reach its optimum temperature is bad for the car, the oil beco...mes thick, the lifters stick open and you can’t start the engine. Batteries that don’t get a good run/charge up will deteriorate more quickly and all of a sudden a cell will die and your battery is cactus. Lines that carry fluids can deteriorate or rodents can be under the bonnet chewing things causing shorts and leaks unbeknownst to you! These are only some of the issues and then of course it’s always a smart idea to make sure your tyres and brakes are roadworthy before travelling anywhere.
