Honourable mention to Aussie Cameron Smith who became the first player to ever shoot 4 rounds in the 60s at the Masters. Only 5 months until the 2021 Masters, we're looking forward to another great event and to hopefully being able to host our popular Masters Breakfast Golf Event.

In near perfect conditions, Marty & Paul proved too strong on the back nine against Paul Considine and Michael Van Kerkhoven closing out the match 5/3. The J D Leech Memorial Trophy Final also gets underway tomorrow morning between Club Captain Cec Bailey & Chris Burridge, best of luck gents.

14.01.2022 Club Captain Cec Bailey proved too strong today in the final of the JD Leech Memorial Trophy. Cec never looked back after defeating the top seed in round 1 and went on to close out today’s final against Chris Burridge 4/3. Well done Cec!

10.01.2022 What a lovely day it was to welcome back groups of four, food and beverage and golf retail to Spring Valley. Everyone looked to be enjoying the lifting of restrictions and the club certainly had more of its atmosphere and comradery that we all know and love. We also received a much anticipated update from Golf Australia today that practice facilities can re-open. Members must follow social distancing guidelines, and ensure a distance of 1.5 metres is maintained at all times. ...The use of hand sanitiser is encouraged before and after using range equipment which will be available at both the Heatherton Rd. driving range and Golf Service Centre. We look forward to seeing you all in the coming days enjoying our facilities we’ve all missed.

07.01.2022 A warm welcome to our new Assistant Professional Dylan Thomas. Spring Valley is certainly looking forward to Dylan joining the Golf Service Centre team, Dylan will be bringing great experience and enthusiasm to both the assisting Golf Service Centre as well as focusing on the club’s programs and pathways. A little more on Dylan... I’ve now been employed within the golf industry for the past 7 years, with 6 of them spent at The Vines GC of Reynella where I completed my PGA of Australia Traineeship at the conclusion of 2016, I then took up a part-time role as the Golf SA Junior Development and Schools Coach whilst playing a number of events on the PGA Pro-Am Circuit, before returning to the club as Club Professional in early 2018. It was a great opportunity for me returning to the Vines as the Club Professional where I had the responsibility of managing the Golf Shop, whilst also being the only professional at the club doing tuition. It gave me an opportunity to learn an enormous amount about myself, and how to run a successful golf shop & coaching business. Over this time, I also managed to build strong relationships with members & guests both male and female, of all different ages and backgrounds which significantly boosted the golf operations at The Vines, and had a large effect on its recent success. In my time at The Vines I also worked tirelessly to develop one of the best junior programs in the Adelaide area. Overlooking the development of the junior golfers at The Vines since 2013 has been extremely gratifying with it climaxing last year seeing the Junior Division 1 Pennant team winning the title for the first time in the club’s history. The club evidently acknowledged the hard work that was put in, rewarding the program funding for a High-Performance Junior Squad at the end of 2018, another first for the club at the time. The High-Performance Squad funding allowed chosen team members the access to weekly clinics, individual coaching, tournament/travel funding and more. More recently I took up a new role at West Beach Parks as Teaching Professional in an attempt to try and grow my coaching business. West Beach Parks is Adelaide’s busiest golf complex with 2 golf courses and a floodlight driving range that also offers an indoor coaching facility where I conduct my tuition. West Beach Parks is no question the best facility in South Australia that is public access which has allowed me the opportunity to grow my coaching business utilising the increased traffic flow that I didn’t see at The Vines. I look forward to meeting all the Spring Valley members in the coming weeks. Dylan Thomas
