25.01.2022 At Springwood Community Kindergarten all the staff work as a team. We communicate, collaborate and cooperate. Covid has made us even more aware of the importance of this. We decided we needed to celebrate our team work and so took on a project that expresses our commitment to our kindergarten. This is what we produced

18.01.2022 PLAY INSPIRES LEARNING at Springwood Community Kindergarten and this week we incorporated patterns in our obstacle course. Patterns help children to learn sequence and order. See what patterns your children can find in their environment and post photos in the comments to share with us.

14.01.2022 Each year at Springwood Community Kindergarten we support a local charity through our Giving Box. Logan East Community Centre reached out to our kindy and asked it we could organise a food/toy drive. We are thrilled to be able to help them out. We believe having the children involved with these projects teaches them kindness and the value of giving to people in need. Please help us support this worthy charity by donating non perishable food, new toys or new books. Thank you for your support!!

13.01.2022 Drawing and painting experiences offer children creative opportunities to express their ideas and interests. At Springwood Kindy we encourage children to participate in a variety of creative activities to support fine motor development and build confidence in preparation for the transition to school.

12.01.2022 Gardening is a fun and healthy activity for children. Here at Springwood Kindy we have a vegetable garden that the children are involved with. They help with soil preparation, planting, mulching, watering and cooking. Children are curious and enjoy playing in the dirt, looking for worms, getting their hands dirty and best of all they experience the satisfaction that comes from caring for something that they helped to create and grow. We will post photos on here regularly so you can see our beautiful garden grow.

11.01.2022 Chicken Hatching Over the last two weeks we have had a wonderful time watching the chicks hatch. The children loved this experience and were very gentle with them. On Friday we said goodbye to our little chicks. They have gone home with two wonderful families from kindy. We had fun using our senses to represent our experiences with the chicks through hand print painting, play dough & clay, collage and music/literature.

06.01.2022 This week is a great opportunity to focus on children's wellbeing. Have a chat with your child about ways they can keep themselves safe!

03.01.2022 At Springwood Community Kindy the children have been exploring the carpentry bench! We have discussed safety rules and all children wear hard hats, aprons, and safety goggles at the bench. The children are currently engaged in exploratory play as they build their confidence with the tools. The carpentry bench is great to develop eye-hand coordination, independence, self-esteem, problem solving skills, comparing, measuring, creative thinking, and respect for tools and materials. It's also lots of fun!

02.01.2022 Working with mathematical concepts in meaningful and purposeful ways creates the foundations for young children's critical thinking skills and problem solving in everyday life. At Springwood Kindy, mathematical learning experiences are embedded into all areas of the Kindy program. Creative design activities like these help to reinforce number, pattern, matching/grouping, classifying/sorting, size & symmetry concepts. And they are lots of fun too!!
