19.01.2022 Whilst spending time with our children on holidays can be rewarding, it can also be super-taxing at times as well. The Triple P program is still offering free online access to Queenslanders, and the best things is, you can do the program in your PJ's https://www.triplep-parenting.net.au//fin/triple-p-online/

13.01.2022 With the emergence of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) as a serious public health concern, Sprout Child and Family Psychology has taken on the following advice with respect to public safety and wellbeing. In order to minimise the spread of the virus, we ask that if you have any of the following symptoms, that you please advise us that you cannot attend your scheduled appointment: - fever, - cough,... - shortness of breath, - sore throat, or - breathing difficulties. Additionally it is recommended that you call on 3447 0124 or email [email protected] to reschedule your appointment if you are concerned that a family member may be showing these symptoms. If youre visiting in-clinic, it is requested that you ensure that you wash your hands using either the bathrooms or the provided hand sanitiser gel. Surfaces within the office will be regularly disinfected to minimise the risk of spread, and as an added precaution, we have removed the toys from the waiting area. If you need to sneeze or cough, it is recommended that you cover your nose and mouth with tissue or a flexed elbow. If using a tissue, dispose of it in the rubbish bins provided. Further information about management for COVID-19 is available at https://www.health.gov.au/, and we will endeavour to provide updates as they come to hand.

07.01.2022 Important Information

07.01.2022 Actively Balanced Kids child psychologist Ben Tuppack has a few tips to help parents who have started or preparing to start home schooling from tomorrow. 1. No ...pressure. Just remember that youre not your childs classroom teacher, and that you dont have to make any key performance indicators, including the ones you set for yourself. Learning happens best when children are settled and relaxed. 2. Get creative. Employ movement in ways like rolling out letters for prep students using play-dough, or having older children shoot letters to spell words using NERF guns. 3. Children can often hyper-focus on tasks they find interesting but distractions are plenty with tedious tasks. Think about your childs individual interests and the things they may find tougher are there any ways that you can use their interests to help get them through the tougher areas? 04.01.2022 Self harm can be a scary problem for young people and their families, but it is manageable. One part of the process, alongside therapy is teaching techniques to help cope with strong feelings. A really easy-to-use and nicely designed app to help "ride the wave" is Calm Harm. More information is available at https://calmharm.co.uk/, and the app is available on both the Apple (https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/calm-harm/id961611581) and Play (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details) stores.

04.01.2022 We know this is easier said than done, but there is an opportunity for adults to model coping in the face of stress and resilience in the face of adversity. We will continue to share resources here that may be helpful to all kinds of families in these uncertain times.

You might be surprised at the breadth of your emotionsor that youve unearthed a deeper emotion buried beneath the more obvious one.

02.01.2022 BREAKING: Here's our back to school plan for Queensland students. Students in Kindy, Prep, Year 1, Year 11 and Year 12 will return to school on May 11, while s...tudents in Years 2 to 10 will continue remote learning at home. We will review the situation on May 15, with the goal to return the remaining students on May 25 if low COVID-19 transmission rates continue. Children of essential workers and vulnerable children are still able to attend school. A sensible and gradual return is only possible because of Queenslands success in slowing the spread of COVID-19. Compare our efforts to what has happened in other parts of the world and Queenslanders should feel very proud. Keep up the good work! #coronavirus
